The Russians themselves are very scared that Putin will start a nuclear war over Obama starting a war over Syria.

The Russians have stated in no uncertain terms that any attack on their forces in Syria will be met with a worldwide response, and they've been openly moving nuclear missiles into Syria and Kaliningrad to make sure Obama gets the message.

And from their standpoint a nuclear attack on the US makes a lot of sense. Obviously, given how viciously Hillary hates the Russians, nuclear war is inevitable if she's elected. Better to fight it on their own terms than give the US time for meticulous war planning. Plus, given Obama's weakness, the US response right now would probably be to issue an apology for contributing CO2 to the atmosphere from all our burning cities.

I mean, what more do they have to do to convince us that maybe starting a war with them isn't a good idea?

No, they're going to blow up a fuck ton of Western targets to show who's tough and who are pussies, and they're confident that Obama is a pussy. So if they launch attacks, NATO has to respond, and in a slow battle of attrition with smart weapons, the Russians lose. They don't like losing, so their best option is to radically escalate and turn major parts of the US and Europe into smoking cinders as quickly as possible - in response to US and NATO military attacks on Russian forces.

It wasn't the end of the exchange that was the worst even. Trump blew it before it even began. Chris Wallace had Hillary pinned down with the Wikileaks, Brazilian bank open borders quote. Hillary's response was.... unconvincing at best. Trump gave it one line 'She's for open borders' then took her bait and switched to Putin b/c he is a man-child that can't not respond to a perceived insult. He had his opponent on the ropes, on his strongest issue and he blew it. The open borders quote never came up again. He blew it.
