And it still holds true. Trump is just failing on a more epic scale.

He looked genuinely, I don't know, scared shitless, and then relieved. The kind of euphoria you get when the wife tells you how badly she wants to bang ______, and then, by golly, you find out the dude is fucking gay.

Unless it falls under the multi-thousand dollar deductible and then it pays nothing.

None that I'm aware of. @Zombie has coverage through his employer and is just spouting False News. But he should really get treatment for that prion disease.

I doubt any of those Republicans in Congress qualify for subsidies.

So what's the net increase after the tax credits?

Shhh ... we like to pretend that things like tax credits and subsidies don't exist.

It's amazing the number of people on Facebook who claim to be "just barely getting by" and then name a premium cost that, given the income-based subsidies, is impossible for someone at any reasonable person's definition of "just getting by."

    Sure ignore the article.

Here's what the IRS says: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/rp-16-28.pdf

Fact is that Obamcare costs are exploding for all. With or without subsidies.

Notice that the articles avoid any mention of the people's incomes... I wonder why that might be?

(The same articles also conveniently ignore all of the abuses that it was legal for insurance companies to inflict on people before Obamacare -- pre-existing condition discrimination and rescissions being the two biggest.)

The article doesn't mention income but it does say they are not covered by the subsidy. So why do you need to know their actual income? What business of it is yours to know? The sources I provided are not hostile to Obamacare except for the Bloomberg one. Even lefty rags life HuffPo are complaining about the high costs of deductibles.

Go to Healthcare.gov and see for yourself. https://www.healthcare.gov/see-plans/

I put in my family of four at various incomes. I put that we would use the least amount of Healthcare. I also choose Silver for everything because that's where you get the best savings according to the site. Also I put I'm in Florida.

    Family Income $30,000
    • Best Premium: $29.41 per month. (Was $632.37 before savings) Has a deductible of $1200 family total with a out-of-pocket maximum of $1200 deductible for the year.
    • Best Deductible: $500 family total. Max deductible is $1,100 for year. The monthly premium however is $135.00. (Was $737.96 before savings)
    Family Income $50,000
    • Best Premium: $254.87 per month. (Was $632.37 before savings) Has a deductible of $10,500 family total with a with a out-of-pocket maximum of $10,500 deductible for the year.
    • Best Deductible: $2,500 family total. Max deductible is $11,400 for year. The monthly premium however is $320.27. (Was $697.77 before savings)
    Family Income $75,000
    • Best Premium: $574.10 per month. (Was $923.99 before savings) Has a deductible of $14,100 family total with a with a out-of-pocket maximum of $14,100 deductible for the year.
    • Best Deductible: $4,800 family total. Max deductible is $14,300 for year. The monthly premium however is $666.33. (Was $1,016.22 before savings)
    Family Income $90,000
    • Best Premium: $695.22 per month. (Was $923.99 before savings) Has a deductible of $14,100 family total with a with a out-of-pocket maximum of $14,100 deductible for the year.
    • Best Deductible: $4,800 family total. Max deductible is $14,300 for year. The monthly premium however is $787.45. (Was $1,016.22 before savings)

It is a fact that even with savings applied people are paying more and more as each year passes.

I can't find it at this time of night but I saw a comparison earlier today - ACA got something like 25 days of floor debate, AHCA got part of ONE day. ACA was subject of over 100 Republican amendments considered, AHCA was not opened to even ONE Democrat amendment; The AHCA was written in such secrecy that even Republicans made a scene about searching for the text of it.

Bitch all you want about the ACA but you are WILDLY off base to prefer or even compare the way the GOP tried to ram this through to the process that led up to the ACA.

It should be pointed out that people with variable incomes, such as workers in the "gig economy" and independent contractors, might be hesitant to claim Obamacare subsidies, since if they end up earning more than expected they will have to pay some or all of it back.

Sure. Even back then, they'd only vote to repeal if they knew they wouldn't win. But with Trump in charge, he has the whole GOP copying his act of playing opposition even while in power. But Look what the Democratic minority did now! is going to get old fast.

Unless the next step is discrediting Congress as an institution in order to get rid of it altogether, of course. :calli:

I remember being diabetic, and applying for insurance coverage. At first, I would hear figures of $500 a month, which was tough but doable. Then the next day I would get a call back and it was now $2000 a month. Then $4000 a month while still on the phone with the rep, and finally the manager would get on the line and tell me coverage wasn't possible.

This is, of course, compared to pre-Obamacare premiums, which never increased?

Fact is, it's not perfect. But it curbed many of the abuses of the insurance system, and actually took steps toward fixing the abominable state of health care in our country -- and all Republicans did was kick and scream against it without bothering to propose any viable solutions of their own. And we've just discovered why: It's because they don't have any.

And you got your answer. You're just being obstinate about it.

Even with tax credits the costs are skyrocketing for people.
