These flowers are in our front yard. I'm not sure what they are, and I'm hoping someone who is familiar with flowers like, maybe, @Dan Leach might know what they are.
I think they're gorgeous, and I tried to capture the light so their colors could be as accurate as possible. Any ideas?

    EDIT: They're hyacinth.

Did you plant these, or are they growing wild? If I didn't live in "homeowners association" subdivision, I'd like to plow up my entire yard and grow a big variety of wildflowers.

They're librarian wild. Sure, they look all cool and collected when around the public, but get them alone, and holy shit will they organize your genealogy room!

Indeed. I found out not too long ago, but thank you for going to the trouble of checking for me. I don't really know how they got there. They didn't exist in that spot last year when we moved in, but they're here now, and they're lovely.

They grow from bulbs, and these are the cultivated variety, so someone must have planted them at some point (wild hyacinth are much weedier looking). They pop up in early spring and last for a few weeks. When the leaves yellow, cut them back to ground level, sprinkle a little fertilizer on the spot, and they'll pop up again next spring.

(They smell wonderful, don't they?) :)

Indeed, they do. When we get a (rare) warm wind, you can smell them throughout the house.

    Incredible, as usual.

What's a "mental sunset"? I am supposing it doesn't mean a sunset that exists only in your mind, or you wouldn't be able to take pictures of it...
