But would he have been able to move 2.5 million people across the Sinai?

Because, according to the Bible, it happened. That alone, should make it of interest to you, outside of you being a history teacher and all.
 Says the man who would be king. It absolutely should be relevant to your life if you're a Christian, it having been mentioned in the Bible. Furthermore, its the kind of thing that a President has to think about, when it comes to evacuating large population areas due to natural disaster or act of war. Both of which can happen under any President's watch.

   Do you really think that I'm just doing this to mock you? Believe you me, you provide me, and everyone else, with ample material without any goading on my part at all. This is absolutely a win-win situation for you, if you answer it. I can't keep goading you for information on it, and, I will have to admit that you did provide an answer. Both of those things happen regardless if I think you've hit upon how it might have been done, and I will admit, that I will have at least some (not a lot) respect for you, for taking up the challenge, rather than simply just brushing it off, or providing a "it happened cause God" type answer.

Remember, you don't have to worry about food, water, or navigation. Just organizing the group, getting it moving, stopping it, and making sure that all the proper rituals for handling the Tabernacle are followed. That's it. As I said before, its no different than what Xenophon or Chairman Mao had to do.

Almost all discussion boards are locked out of the schools system. Plus, teachers are not supposed to sit behind their desks during actual classes.

Oh yeah Tucker, this ridiculous thing about appealing to my vanity by claiming this is relevant to my long ago ambitions to be president. Gave that up long ago so don't bother (not even relevant as no president has ever had to do that anyway).

    Bugger off.

And yet you're here on WF during school hours. And in the middle of the night. And right now instead of spending time with your family. One can logically multiply your time here by the four other message boards you post on.

First I've heard of you giving it up. Admittedly, you don't talk about it as much as you did a year or two ago, but I'd hardly consider that "long ago."

Really? You're telling me no President has had to concern himself with the evacuation of a major population center? Ever heard of hurricane Katrina? Superstorm Sandy? You don't think that Obama doesn't have briefings about what's going on with the refugees fleeing ISIS and other military actions?

Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not gay, and anal sex has never appealed to me. So no, I will not "bugger off," and I will continue to raise the issue, for the reasons I've already stated.

Now, now, garamet, if he actually talked to his family he might have to admit that they're human beings who have thoughts and feelings just like him. And if his family can have such things, then other people might have them as well. Which would be horrifying for him to acknowledge.

You people know nothing. I'm very close to my wife, daughter, dad, and my sisters and their families.

This of course is par for the course for some of our long timers here. Insults or attack a person based on their family with no provocation whatsoever.

Getting from the likely crossings of the Red Sea to the Promised Land is that same distance as going from Boston to New York. The Founding Fathers could move armies on foot in between those cities at will. Washington started marching the Army toward New York on April 4, 1776, after the successful siege of Boston. They arrived on April 13.

So yeah, with competent leadership it should take about 9 days to get an army from Egypt to the Promised Land. It's the Sinai. It's not like you have to hack a trail through the woods or wade through snake infested swamps.

Is that why you so rarely seem to talk about them?

 Have you not read your "Greatest Hits" thread? Dude, the content of that thread isn't merely like wearing a "Kick Me" sign on your back, its like wearing a Klan hood to a Black Panther or Nation of Islam meeting. If people were mocking you for shit you didn't say, you'd have a reason to complain, and if I've mocked you for something you didn't say, I unreservedly apologize, without hesitation. But that's not what's going on here. We're jabbing at you for what you did say.

The truth is, you've got some kind of issues that you really need to deal with. For the sake of argument, let's say that you're right when it comes to religion and politics. Okay? Now, just about everybody here disagrees with you on one, or both, of those subjects to the point where they're not merely willing to say, "I disagree with you," but they'll go so far as to call you "batshit crazy" (and that's one of the milder insults which has been pointed at you). Clearly, there's nothing to be gained by you staying here, except in getting more abuse heaped upon you. So why stay? I can tell you that I wouldn't stick around such a place. Indeed, I'm now to the point where if enough posters on a board try to rebut something I've said by misstating it, I'm out of there, because its obvious that they're not interested in anything more than dickwaving. I'm not saying that I'm right about a topic, but if you can't show me the respect to disagree with what I actually said, then there's no point in my even trying to have a discussion with you at all.

Yet, you remain here. Why? The only conclusions I can draw is that either you like the abuse, or you're under the illusion that you can somehow convert one of us to your ways of thinking with your misguided approaches. You want to convince me about the validity of the Bible? Then provide hard evidence backing up its claims, or at least be willing to offer testable hypothesizes that can explain the events. Otherwise, I'm not buying it.

I don't talk about my family as I've been warned by many here that I shared too much personal information.

Now apparently you people want to use that restraint against me in this argument.

I'm here largely because of long time habit.

I joined the TrekBBS in 2000. Mainly because of the Future of Trek forum. I then spent lots of time in The Neutral Zone. At that time there were plenty of fellow conservative posters around so I stayed for years until they booted me for good. Ultimately over my disdain for the the 2009 Star Trek movie.

So I came here. Largely out of habit and the familiar people and surroundings I've stayed.

I rarely get offended that people here often don't agree with me because I have no expectation of it. People often don't agree with me in real life both in and outside my family when it comes to geo political positions. About the closest I come to someone agreeing with me all the time over any subject is my wife and I are pretty much lockstep when it comes to moral values.

Yabbut...nearly all of us completely rip the shit outta you, and not in a friendly sorta way. To use Dinner as an example, he's gone off the stereotypical liberal script recently with Muslims, but the only major shit he's been given on the board was my thread I made last night (and I can say it was more tongue-in-cheek than malice).

 [Kirk] Like a poor marksman, you keep on missing the target. [/Kirk] There's a difference between saying, "I live at 321 Fake Street" and "My wife really likes her new car." One gives detailed information that's potentially dangerous, the other doesn't.

Which is akin to saying that you keep hitting yourself in the head because even if it hurts, its something you've always done.

Which is why you have a join date of 2004. Five years before the movie came out.

    :kirkpalm:

No one's saying anything about you being offended. Its about subjecting yourself to abuse.

You know what I meant Tucker.

I joined here in 2004 during the first big culling of people from TrekBBS during IIRC one of my extended bans. Note, that is when I started My Diary here. It had been on the TrekBBS and briefly at Spacebattles.com

I continued my TrekBBS membership and some activity though until I was permanently banned in 2009.

Yeah, I wouldn't want Dayton to leave. Why the fuck would we want everybody to have the same opinions on everything? Dayton is interesting reading. Hell, I even agree with him from time to time on foreign policy and on some non-political, non-values oriented topics.

I'm not suggesting he leave, merely that he re-examine why he choses to stay in a place where he's subject to so much abuse. There's a difference.

Yes indeed. Dayton's views are unusual, but that's a huge part of what WF is for.

Besides, he's one of us. He can't just leave. We'd miss each other.
