Wow. That is a distinct improvement over the other stuff you've posted here. Working from a live model really helps, huh?

Definitely. Drawing from imagination is quite difficult without a very, very solid knowledge of anatomy and an awareness of many physical variations. My imagined figures are still very cartoonish.

These are also done with pen (outline) and pencil (shading) on paper, whereas most of my art here is digital. My digital work does not yet match my capability with physical media, though practice and, perhaps, some technology (Cintiq?) might get me there.

Eh, didn't like the perspective (or lack thereof) on Cherry's face in that last sketch. This is better...

    Ah. Understood. :techman:

The second take on Chokecherry really is better. Even the expression on her face is more refined. From your head, or did you use reference?

I'm really happy with this concept sketch for nuZoria.

    1. Done entirely from imagination and looks pretty realistic!

    2. Sexy woman looks like sexy woman. You have to get a lot right to generate sex appeal.

    3. Pose and details give more "life."

    4. Conscious effort to avoid straight-on views results in more depth.

Ms. E flying. I like how this one turned out. The anatomy is pretty good, the pose is graceful, and the face is pretty and expressive.

What size are your originals? And do we need to take up a collection to buy you a scanner?

These are drawn in a sketchbook with (IIRC) 9" x 12" pages.

I actually do own a scanner, but I usually make these when I'm sitting in a restaurant somewhere and it's so convenient to use my phone to capture them.

But maybe I shouldn't be so lazy. I'll wait until I get home and scan them.

So what I'm seeing is Paladin wants Ms. Electrode in Quantum Dissolve....

    She'll be in there. ...eventually.

I know, I sound like George R.R. Martin in South Park saying "the dragons and zombies are coming!".

I wasn't dropping hints (:calli:), I just like drawing the character. I've been drawing a lot of female characters lately, just trying to improve my take on them. I grew up drawing Superman and Batman, never Wonder Woman.

I do think Chokecherry and Miss E would make an interesting team, kinda like a female version of Superman/Batman.

What I've experienced drawing the female form: breasts are hard to get right. There's no "almost" . . . they either look just right or completely wrong. Same thing is true for eyes no matter the sex of the figure. Hands too . . . easy to get wrong, fiendishly hard to get right.

Breasts definitely are very difficult. And it's also a...er...temptation to draw every woman as a DD cup in order to emphasize them. I try to mix it up on the characters I create; I don't want/need every female character to look like a porn star. In post #317, I drew several women with varied and realistic breasts.

I'm getting better at hands but still have a long way to go. I look at how much detail someone like, say, Neal Adams puts into fingers and I'm quietly awestruck.

There's a great quote about Neal Adams . . . I forget who said it, tho. Might have been Hembeck, might have been Terry Austin. "Neal draws people who look just like they would look if they looked that way."
