Actually according to the news they had yet to cancel or postpone the game a few minutes before the post was made. Please do stick it up your ass because they had not called it off as of early afternoon.

Well, they would have to rerlocate Otakon which is the biggest anime con on the east coast. Aside from that it might actually improve traffic on the I-95 corridor until you got to DC. I am pretty sure 95 is in a tunnel in the areas of the riot so it probably would not be effected as much as the beltway or 83.

Why are the reporters befuddled over why the cops aren't doing much? If they do confront the looters one of the looters might get hurt and give the looters more fuel for their fire (no pun intended).
Now here's something interesting: Baltimore has a very high percentage of black cops. So my theory of hiring more black cops in a largely black city to better represent the population in a positive manner does not hold water.

The cops will be down by the tourist areas in the harbor to make sure none of them destroy the real money. Besides, there is not much to loot once you get by the hard rock. Unless the looters can swim it is pretty much a bottleneck at the harbor where you could push them into the western ghettos. The only hard thing to protect would be camden as the southern ghettos start there. All you have to do is keep access to the 95 artrery that lands you right between camden and the convention center and you could hold the area with highway access to emergency room and extra support. Not to mention I do believe there is another artery on the topside of the bay towards the shopping districts. You have easy staging points in the con center and bay event areas where you could set up triage for a major riot. Not to mention the helecopter and bay access point if you needed them. The money will not be hit even if this riot becomes something real to worry about. Even the hotel and low end business staff will probably have access to stay at work instead of going back to their neighborhoods. About the only workers who will have a problem are the hookers who will not be able to get to their clients in the tourist areas, but I would guess weekends are their big time anyway so they won't be loosing too much.

I have been to baltimore, and even without the riots no one wants america to look like that shithole.

I've been to Baltimore many times. One intersection at John's Hopkins was guarded by more policemen than were employed by my hometown of 13,000. One of my friend's grad students started riding his bicycle to work and everyone told him "Are you crazy? Don't do that!" Soon one morning he heard running feet behind some he sped up until the feet started falling behind. He looked back and sure enough, a thug was trying to run him down and rob him.

Dude, I have walked the streets where the riots are happening now. I have been there at almost every hour of the day. I have taked to the hookers coming out of the hotels, and I have bought drugs from a woman and her baby at 2 in the morning just a few blocks from where it happened. They are not after whity there. You do not get mugged just for being there with white skin. There are a ton of people who do it every day. Yeah, there is bad areas down there. Yes, if you walk down there looking like a rich white guy you do make yourself a target. Yes, the crime will slip into tourist land by the bay because there are a bunch of targets there a few blocks from the ghetto. This idea that you get mugged or beaten in those areas just for being white is a load of fix noise bullshit.

Yes, if you look like some white bread college student with a nice bike and ride through the ghetto every day you run a good chance of getting robbed. It is not right, but when you flaunt your ass in front of the thieves they will get you. Tell your friend to do himself a favor. Dress as a drag queen and go ride to school. Thieves do not fuck with a drag queen most times because they have no fucking money, and you will probably get a heal up your ass for your efforts. You are not going to get any respect in the ghetto being beat five blocks by a loud fucking pissed off queen.

I do not know if I would say I approve of them, but you should expect them. Police have to have some form of professionalism, and it is becoming more imperative. When you have police getting caught on message boards posting racist and prejudiced crap you lower the community's confidence in them. You lower their opinion of them. When you have police with an incapacitated person in custody getting them killed because they did not buckle them up you lower confidence and trust in the police. When you dismiss 100 percent of shootings as correct when these things come out you have people who call bullshit and you lower the trust in police.

You can say what you want about it being a few bad apples, but come on. We all go to work, and we all know when we have co-workers who do stupid shit. Police are supposed to be more perceptive, and yet they are somehow blind as a bat? When you say there are good cops out there who turn away when they see violent psychos in their own ranks then they are not good cops because people are getting hurt that is not a part of the job and responsibility of police. In this case the blue wall makes the police criminal thugs. An honest cop looking to be a good part of the community does not turn the other way when his fellow officers are using a van ride to potentially kill people in their custody. It has happened before because we have found out about it, and it is not professional, and it lowers everyone's view of the cops because even if youi run into a bad apple, the good ones are not going to do their job and keep you from getting harmed at the hands of a psycho or racist who happens to have a badge.

No one is doing anything about it, and when you cannot get action from the people who are supposed to be rooting this shit out because they are behind the blue wall, yes you retaliate. It should be an expected inevitability. Perhaps it may even be the right thing to do when you cannot get anyone else to listen because they all disregard what is happening as some ghetto thing. I normally side with the police, but if these rides are a normal part of their operating procedure they deserve to be hurt a lot more than this. If we cannot get internal affairs or the feds to properly punish them then have them come to a riot where they are overwhelmed and get their asses kicked.

Police are given more authority than the rest of us to do their jobs properly. We give them our trust so that when they have to detain us we feel safe that we will be handled safely and respectfully until the process is done and we are either released or arraigned. When police do not have that trust and respect you have more and more good innocent people who will resist due to fear. If I knew that police regularly tossed people they detained into a van and drove them around injuring them while they were bound and could not do anything to protect themselves I would be sporting a gun and ready to kill police as a law abiding citizen. Right now i would just politely surrender knowing I would be safely brought to the precinct and processed. I would get a lawyer and handle it in court. If i thought I was going to get tuned up I would be a lot more likely to run and resist until I could turn myself in with a lawyer present. I really cannot say i blame blacks whop do resist in that manner because there is obviously a good likelihood that you will be mistreated due to your skin color. I would have no trust or faith in the police as a black person, so I cannot blame them for not having it.

That is why I see a need to start hammering police who are found to violate their responsibilities to safely transport people or not put an extra beating on subjects. We should be firing every cop who makes racist remarks based on a zero tolerance policy of professionalism. You cannot get people to trust you after you show them you are racist. If you allow a racist to get away with just words it shows the community that you tolerate it and taints everything you do. Since police need the community to see them as alies they need to be extremely intollerant of any sort of unprofessional act like racial slurs, sexism, or prejudice of any sort.

This is the black eye and injury they deserve for letting it happen under their nose, and it should be worse. I cannot condone it, but it should be the reprocussions of that sort of action. I guess in some way that is condoning it, even though I still think those who riot should be arrested and face criminal punishment for their actions. I guess it is the same way I think police who inflict punishment on criminals they arrest should also be punished, but we still need a police department.

They are the same fucking area fuckhead. Even if there are different concentrations of color, they are still the same fucking area. No poor person gets beaten for crossing areas unless they carry something like gang affiliation or some other reason to be violent to them. You listen to faux news way too much. They are lying when they say there are you cannot go as a white person. That is a load of fucking crap. You personally may not be able to go there because you are too stupid to keep your fucking mouth shut and not offend someone, but that is your problem. That is because you are an asshole. Sorry, but Fox this latest dust up is probably the first time Fox News has mentioned Baltimore since the British attacked it. My observations come from observing all the chuckle heads in the city. I went pretty much everywhere, because I fit in so well. Some of my housemates are sometimes alarmed at how I can talk to ex-convicts and crack heads for hours on end. It's probably I don't really have a problem with murderers, drug dealers, and war criminals as people (my cousin was executed at Nuremberg), because they're really quite nice and polite when you sync with them.

I just reread one of Tereruns posts in this thread. "Racist cops" was mentioned quite a bit. But then I thought wait - a large percentage of Baltimore cops are black themselves!
So this is not Ferguson by any stretch when it comes to that. Oh, but wait - it's the racist system that forces the blacks to take the police jobs or not quit in protest. They were interviewing folks on the street and some complained of lack of development or education. Really now? If you were a business owner would you hang your shingle there?
