Fucking aces, region locked. Saw it anyway :nyah:

At least they have the sense to keep it short. I don't think I could bear endless broken family BS while a few zombies show up now and then. Six episodes should be good, however.

If I'd heard that they were taking a page from "24" and each episode reflected an hour (or day) in quick succession, I'd be feeling a lot better about the prospects of this spin-off. My logic being that the evolution of the virus/breakdown of society would likely be a rapidly-evolving situation, thus the need for that type of story-telling mechanism. Without such, it has big potential to just become "same shit, different people/places" with regards to the original series. And as much as I enjoy the original, I really don't need another series of "torture porn"...

Sadly, I've not heard any such rumors about FtWD...

The family drama was "stab yourself in the face with a spork" painful for the first 2/3 of the pilot, then it got marginally better. I'll probably watch the entire season since it's only 6 eps before judging. I really wish it would take a page from World War Z (the novel, not the abomination of a movie), and show how the zombie apocalypse progressed. What I suspect is we'll just get heaps more family drama that makes me drop this show like a bad habit.

The Walking Dead has lots of drama AND characters I like. I just don't see myself growing to like any of these people in FTWD. OK, the dad is OK, but that's about it.

P.S. I have dream that someday Hollywierd will learn to write teenagers. They aren't all perpetually angry, rebellious douchebags.

"I wish it were World War Z!! :weep:", well, it ain't.

Original Recipe Walking Dead is a soap opera with zombies, so this is a family drama with zombies.
    It is what it is.

If you want Romero flavored zombie stories, "Empire Of The Dead", is going to be a TV series soon.

It was decent - the only thing that really annoyed me was the junkie son that looks like a chick. The family dysfunctional-ness was a bit much, but I guess all that shit will get resolved once people start getting eaten.

I'm willing to go 3 or maybe 4 epsiodes until the shit really hits the fan and we are full blown apocalypse. I liked the little hints here and there of the impending doom.

It's only 6 eps this season.

I did find it funny on a different forum when I complained about the family drama silliness and used the term "blended family" an SJW on that forum attacked me for being a racist. Twas quite humorous when I posted the link to Merriam-Webster.com and Wikipedia that defined the term and neither mentions race at all :P

I agree with you on the junkie son. Overall I thought the character development was good. I felt bad when the daughter's boyfriend didn't show up for their date or school the next day. We all know why but she doesn't yet. I'm intrigued and can't wait to see the next episode.

I was very disappointed with the pilot. Pretty much all the characters are completely unlikeable.

The big dramatic moment near the end fell flat. Was that really the best way the writers could come up with to introduce zombies to the protagonists?

I thought they were "meh", but it doesn't matter, because the trailer for upcoming episodes shows they'll meet other characters to build up their apocalypse tribe, so there'll be somebody in there to like eventually.

Hell, Sarah Silverman said on Talking Dead she hated everyone on regular Walking Dead until Michonne and The Governor showed up.

    So it's like TWD

Watched it. OK, too much drama, too few zombies. But promising nevertheless. Different, sure. But not in a bad way so far. I hope they don't remain in family drama mode for too long and get to the apocalypse before the last episode.

Btw, what parallel world is this? In ours, everybody would run around an scream ZOMBIES! ZOMBIES!

I was kinda bored with the family drama. Kinda felt like one of those disaster movies from the 60's and 70's where you wasted an hour with the people and their problems before the shit finally hit the fan.
I do think it is interesting to see the zombie outbreak from Day 1. But maybe this didn't need to be an hour and a half.

    Episode two was much better.

Not sure why the critics and TV pundits are calling this series a "slow burn". Looks like things went south real quick in Los Angeles. :techman:

They should have swiped a plot device from the movie Contagion, the Day 2, Day 3, Day 4. You could even end it like Contagion with "Day 1".

But I don't think TWD holds up if you try to nail down a timeline.

Teenagers that are not rebellious are boring as hell. You want to watch teenagers that do their homework, do what they're told, and generally don't break rules? Or ones that spend all their time texting and online.

There was some upset over racial bias. Too many black people dying.

Well, that's just the way it goes.

Fear The Walking Dead....this time, the walkers bore you to death!!

I was hoping the drug addict would've drowned in the pool. Just don't give a shit about the character or the rest of the family's dysfunction for that matter.

I was going to say "it's a slow burn, give it time", but then I see there's only two episodes left for this season.

6 fucking episodes, and they're fiddle-fucking around?!??! :wtf:

Did anything happen in the last episode? I think they could've just shelved it without affecting any story lines.

Perhaps the show is written from the zombies' perspective where it seems to them that things are happening quickly.

I just finished Sunday's episode last night. It's not so much the storylines or the characters, although they each have issues, but the pacing. The show spends too much time on spinning it's wheels. We've spent too much time just in that neighborhood with very little going on in terms of plot development.

I guess I've nothing new to add from my previous posts, just was expecting the last episodes to move into high gear.
