Why do Christians have a problem with Detroit's new Satan statue?

If you were acting as a lawyer you probably cost the American economy more than you helped it.

I am not authorised to practice in any US jurisdiction, so that's a stupid comment.

Detroit has been a laughing stock for years so I'm not surprised that they are reduced to idolizing the Devil.

If you believe the accounts in the Bible, why not idolize the Devil?

I mean, God is clearly evil, and the Devil stands in opposition to him. I personally don't believe any of that stuff, but if I did, I'd be more likely to worship the Devil than the Christians' petty sadist of a God.

As a former Christian and current Agnostic, I don't have a problem with Christian imagery being placed in public places. They're placed there in good spirit to represent virtuous ideals, and it's often difficult to separate things that are Christian proper from things that are simply mainstream Western culture, since the two grew up together. The same cannot be said for the Satan statue. It's simply an attempt at trolling; nothing pleasant or virtuous about it.

    Bullshit it isnt.

Let's start pulling quotes from the Torah and the Book of Mormon then. There's plenty than applies to other faiths in those books, too. :dayton:

Your point stands in spite of the fact that compared to the Bible and Torah, the Book of Mormon is a bunch of bullshit

Not to mention that if you adopt the premise "It's OK as long as it endorses two religions instead of one," you get questions like --
    • Can the government preach about reincarnation and nirvana, since those tenets are shared by both Hinduism and Buddhism?
    • Can the government endorse the Qur'an, since its tenets are shared by both Shiites and Sunnis?
    • Can the government endorse Wicca, because some Wiccans have beliefs that are similar to those of the ancient polytheistic religions like the Norse?
