    Yeah, Skippy, ya did.

    I said.

    You said.

Naturally, meaning you think a person's body belongs to the state, and to the theocrats who wish to control it.
There's really very little wiggle room for interpretation, your meaning seems clear.

That the consequences of your words horrify you is not my concern.
If you want to stop creeping yourself out, stop being horrible.
That would be far more effective than pitching a bawling fit in my direction.

    It's not about disagreement.

I just don't have the psychological fortitude to maintain willful suspension of disbelief as I did when I was younger.

And Christians like to say the Bible and God don't change...
At least Joe Smith had the cajones to write up the BoM, Pearl of Great Price and most of D&C when he got his con game going.

You can lie all you want to make your morally reprehensible beliefs (which are the equivalent of those peoples who once practiced human sacrifice and cannibalism) more palatable to you.

    But.

At some point a human life deserves the protection of the state even if it imposes obligations and sacrifices on individuals

The only thing I believe is that point begins roughly 9 months earlier than many of you believe.

    (before reading the replies)

Beck absolutely has the right to suspend her, his business his call.

But anyone on the right who defends that choice can shut the fuck up about, for example, when ESPN decides they have had enough of Curt Schilling or whatever.

    Cuts both ways.

Sorta, but mostly, most know it takes an act of congress to change proverbial city hall. Any one with an ounce of brain, knows it is easier to move, emigrate if you will, to the States of Freedom. Except that leaves the religious states stuck with the chaff, the intellectual back water. Knock 'em up, and they can't go anywhere. Who wants to drag a family? Dismantle education, and how will they get employment in the more enlightened states? The redder the state, the bigger the brain drain. This is not a case of " let's get stoned" but rather, who the hell wants to get felonised over some fucking weed?

Under what other circumstances do you think that physical, emotional and financial stress are reasons not to punish someone for an act that you consider murder?

What if they snapped and killed a third party instead, one who had never abused them?

Other than turning the thread into yet another abortion debate, I don't know what else there is to say about this story. Shep won the thread here. :bailey:

It's not like she was a cameraman. I'm sure her contract stipulated termination terms. She can sue if they are in breach of contract.

Even in at-will states people with jobs like hers can sue if the employer is in breach of contract. I've seen it happen more than once (and each time the company settled instead of waiting for a judgement because they knew they fucked up).

In this case, though, I suspect she's probably the one who violated the terms of the contract by going "off message" from the views that Beck wants on his network.

Technically, every state but Montana is at-will by default, but some have exceptions spelled out (for instance, a handful of specific reasons for which it is illegal to fire someone). Also, an employment contract can override that, in that it's possible for an employer's action to be legal in and of itself, but still be a breach of that particular employee's contract.

    Well yeah.

As long as her contract terms are met.

I've read it's not just her stance on abortion with the flip-flopping but that she's been treating staff around her like shit and they were close to mutiny.

Amy Holmes, now with MSNBC, started on Becks TV channel and was openly pro-choice so I think Tomi just reached the straw that broke the camels back.
