Okay, let me put it another way.
On a scale of 1 to 10, 1o being absolute belief, 1 being absolute unbelief, where were you in 1980?
    Where are you now?

I came to believe the scriptures were true.

In unrelated events, Ronald Reagan was sworn in as the 40th president and the Dierks Outlaws had one of their best seasons with the Sr. High team finishing 10 & 2 losing in double overtime in the quarter finals of the state playoffs. My Jr. High team went 7 & 1.

First space shuttle flights began that year with Columbia rocketing into orbit commanded by John Young with Robert Crippen aboard as well

Before the years of study, would you consider yourself an outright unbeliever?

So there was some belief there.
So the scriptures and years of study can be excluded.

What had you on the fence before that?

Did you conclude that on your own, or did someone teach it to you?

Actually Diacanu your questions made me realize (or remember) something I had let slide.

One of the triggering events was reading a science fiction story by Isaac Asimov (ironically a very committed atheist) published in 1978 called "How It Happened".

    Cute story.
Do you think it would have resonated as much if it had been Mohammed instead of Moses?

I didn't know that Mohammed had a brother named Aaron?

Wow, one learns something new every day.

I take it by your facepalm rep that you understood what I was saying.
    But in case you didn't....
Do you think it would have resonated as much if it had been Mohammed instead of Moses (and there was some other scribe instead of Aron)?

So, does your rep indicate "yes", "no", or "maybe"?

    Assuming "no", why not?
Because you're not culturally familiar with Muhammed?

    This isn't discourse. It's banter.

Would've gone smoother if Dayton didn't make getting simple answers to simple questions like pulling teeth.
Seems to me that faith that can't withstand some introspection is pretty tenuous.
He could of course prove me wrong.

Years of reading Dayton's posts lead to the conclusion that he is a "Christian" only because he thinks it puts him on the winning team. If radical Islamists took over the country, he'd grow a beard and start bowing to Mecca. If atheist communists took over, he'd be the loudest critic against bourgeois religion keeping the workers in chains.

I already have a beard. Well a goatee and mustache at least. Grew the mustache at my mothers request decades ago. Goatee at my wifes request.

Don't forget: he's got a piece of paper that says he's licensed to be a Christian.
