This video has been hitting me for all the right reasons. I think it is time to start going a bit deeper into the pit of altered states. where is that gypsum weed?
I think PA is going to go to Trump. I'd love to be wrong, but 95% of the vote, he has a 200,000 vote lead, and almost all of the cities have counted the majority of their ballots. Even if he doesn't get PA, he has a 7% lead in Michigan with 70% of the vote in, and a 4% lead in Wisconsin with 89% of the vote in. It's just not looking good at all for Kamala Harris at this point.
The better question will be if that vote will come at all. I'm glad I took tomorrow off and frankly if I didn't have plans to go home in December, I'd take the rest of week off too. We're fucked. Totally and absolutely and irrevocably fucked. I won't even mince words and I'm angry for even allowing myself the brief hope that things could ever GET better in this shithole country and I'm even too numb to cry about it. It was all well and fine when HRC lost because I lived in California and nothing fundamentally changed for us then. But it's going to be bad and even the bluest of blue states are going to be impacted. I hate woolly headed ass white leftists would put their pride above everything else. I hate the DNC for not learning a fucking lesson from 2008. I hate Biden, who for all that he did very much have an uphill battle from jump did little to fight for a single one of the big pet causes we put him in office for. I hate Jill Stein for being a snake in the grass and I hope Trump murders her first, frankly. I hate I'm stuck in this red ass state with no way of going home bc home means putting up with a miserable abusive stepdad and all that baggage so I'm stuck here in this garbage heap state. I hate all of it.
Did you really have to throw that disagree rep in there, @RickDeckard ? Is defending Jill Stein's honor that important?
The US decided that they enjoy controlling women, stepping on migrants, and crushing the poor far more than they do anything else. Stokely Carmichael once said the reason MLK's protests were often so ineffective were because you had to have a conscience to care about those being oppressed, and that the US didn't have a conscience. I have accepted that this is true for a long time, but it's still a bitter pill each time it is shown to be true. 5,000,000+ votes ahead in the popular vote for a man who idolizes Hitler.
I don't think calling for the murder of political opponents, even in jest, is acceptable. Or thinking that this is about "pride" for leftists is useful. Trump is winning Michigan by 120,000 votes. There are 200,000 Arab Americans there and last week the Harris campaign sent Bill Clinton to them to say how it was okay that their relatives were being murdered, actually. This is on them.
"opponent" suggest she was ever a serious contender to begin with. She was, is, and will continue to be a pawn for idiots who sincerely think she was ever looking out for anyone and I'm sure we know what Russia does to operatives that are no longer useful to them. That's not wishful thinking, that reading history. And I've always said Harris leaning into codding Zionists was the wrong play and I bear no ill will towards the Arabs who voted agaist her, despite everything Trump has done and will do again in January (again. Sigh.) That one was, as the kids say, a huge L. One that's will have consequences for the rest of our lives, if not our children's lives.
Holy crap, I never thought Trump would win reelection. Maybe there’s hop for our country now. Yes I voted for Trump this time. Sue me.
We'll never know, it seems, how many dead Palestinians there would be under a Harris administration, but we're going to find out exactly how many there will be under Trump. I'm guessing it's going to be big. Really big. And maybe I'm wrong, we'll never know, but I'm guessing that number might be slightly smaller if Harris had won. Maybe by only a single person, but a candidate, who, at the very least is willing to play lip service to the LGBTQ+ community, amongst many marginalized groups, is going to be more inclined to at least slow down Israel, it seems to me. You know, as opposed to a candidate claiming the worst things about the LGBTQ+ community.
One of the reasons I didn't vote for her was because she took on Butch Ware as her VP, a transphobic asshole who was fine with abortions after 16 weeks. Just an awful, awful choice. While I often agree with you, @RickDeckard, in this case Jill and her running mate ended up being a bad choice for the Greens. They deserved better than those two as a candidate. For those of you who are curious, I voted for Harris/Walz, and straightline Democrat all the way down.
This is who americans and most humans are. We are not in star trek or a utopia. The good people are not all around us. I have spent the last decade contributing as little as possible to this nation, and now that I am being crippled by neuropathy I will suck as much away from the system as possible. I still chose who I help, and I am not bothered that Trump will strip it from the people. Democracy shows me what most people value, and steal it all the fuck away because that is what america values. I would say bring oiut the guns too, but they are already here so this is what democracy wants, and it gets it. I don't like it any more than you may.
I know things might suck, but it is good to see you back and despite other people's feelings I am happy to see you.
No matter the final total, a Biden loss was inevitable. Harris should've been tagged in back in January and they should've at the bare minimum just lied about their war plans like every other candidate does. Which isn't a great thing to do, but it would've gotten her Michigan, by God.
I said some time back I expected Trump to win, can't say I'm happy at being proven correct, especially as I'd convinced myself Harris had a chance over the last few weeks. The monumental effort it took to beat Trump in 2020 obviously got memory holed by the Dems, and whilst Harris did a surprisingly good job given the Biden albatross wrapped around her neck and short run-up, it just wasn't enough. I'm not a fan of Harris, but she absolutely deserves recognition for getting so close given that, bar funds, she had so many things going against her. I have no illusions the Dems will learn any lessons, but hopefully they'll prove me wrong before 2028 and Vance galloping home to victory. From a UK perspective, this is going to be awkward for Starmer between Lammy's previous quotes on Trump and the assistance given to the Dems. About the only positives I can take is the responses from some of the more hubristic lefties on this side of the pond, and that will be the thinnest of gruel.
I'm sure they'll be thrilled by what the bloke who moved his country's embassy to Jerusalem, enables Netanyahu to do by way of a second act.
Well, I'm not suggesting that this result is good or that the prospects are rosy. And while it is right that history doesn't do counterfactuals, the number is already very big. Which is why it would have been good if the Harris campaign had made better choices in that area. Of course, the minor positive here is that if/when Trump continues to facilitate the genocide, he will likely meet with more opposition as many liberals suddenly discover their principles.
