So far this has been the smartest Dem campaign I can recall (even more so than Obama in some ways) Apparently they said a while back that Walz would do some "Friday Night Lights" appearances at football games, and the bus tours were pretty successful. They also seem to have the right balance of "Trump is dangerous" and "We're talking about our plans for the future"
I bang this drum a lot but, out of those who vote (at best, 2/3 of those who are eligible) about a third of voters WANT King Trump (or a similar facsimile) in full measure. When you say "he could be Orban or Putin" for them that's "YES PLEASE!" and something around half firmly DON'T. Our problem is the other 10-15% who insist on flirting with Ceaser because of tribalism or religion or whatever.

Last I can remember, he wasn't going to vote for Trump, but he just couldn't bring himself to vote for whomever the Democrat running for President was (either Hillary or Biden) over the abortion thing (though he might have shifted near the election to voting for the Democrat).

Maybe someone can ask our resident repugs how Trum0p will accomplish deportinbg 10-15 million immigrants without demanding everyone's papers and searching their homes with his storm troopers? It is not like we do not havepolice and immigration people searching for people here illegally. The problem is these people do not just turn themselves in. Trump does not have a magic wand to wave that summons every person here without permission. This war on immigrants will be like the war on drugs. You will have immigration checkpoints. You will have to have your papers on you at all times to prove your citizenship. DHS will be coming into your homes randomly to search for immigrants because they will have to find them. Ho2w is @Uncle Albert going to feel when he drives up to a checkpoint in his jeep every day and they have to search it? How is @Steal Your Face when he is woken up by cops at his door and they push their way in tand search his home to see if there are immigrants there? How are all the repugs going to feel when they have no rights. How long do you think it willk be before your guns are a threat to the immigration police because they get shot at by some american right winger who does not like having their homes searched? The guns will be the next target by the repugs when you start allowing them to search everywhere for immigrants, and there is no way chicken orange is going to let angry repugs keep their guns after the times they have shot at him. Well, often times this type of thing is frowned upon with Democrats and I'm pretty sure you in particular have argued with UA over shooting someone who breaks into their house. Has there not been several Democrats who have argued doing anything else rather than shooting someone? All of those discussions must have gotten memory holed.

I wrote something about Dems not seeming to get that "the abortion thing" maybe loses them more voters than they realize. It was too hard to revise to get the nuance right and I deleted it. But I just saw a brazen example of liberals being idiots to serve as the flint. Video ad warning against Project 2025. Good. Need more of those. What does it lead off with? "Trump can fire civil servants and replace them with MAGA loyalists." Okay? Do you really think your average low-info voter understands what the big deal about "civil servants" is? Are you sure they fully realize what that covers, that it isn't just janitors and clerks kind of jobs? And then. Next is "He'll ban abortion and contraceptives nationwide!!" Do you have one speck of gray matter in your brains? Do you not realize that is the number one thing that might make the general audience member watching your ad say "wait, this sounds kinda good actually"?! This board sure likes to claim Republicans are obsessed with what goes on in people's bedrooms, but somebody was soooo preoccupied here that this what what was first on their mind, the best thing they had to lead with that surely everyone will be alarmed by. How dumb can you be? And then the ad picks up speed dramatically and zings through all the departments and benefits that Trump could eliminate. Gosh, there's a lot of them. Probably a few of them that would be more alarming things to lead with. Things that probably have CONSIDERABLY MORE SUPPORT AMONG POSSIBLE NON-DEMOCRATIC VOTERS THAN APPROVAL FOR KILLING BABIES. You do realize that's who the ad should be aimed at, yes? You have the Democratic voters locked up. You have the lean-left voters locked up, just be sure they get a prod to go to the polls. You need the people in middle and leaning-right-but-would-rather-vote-Dem-than-die to realize the danger. And you cannot do that by leading with technical terms and abortion. You can talk about the voters all you like, you can pick out individuals who have actual sense, I have no doubt that the GOP is far worse than the DNC right now, but don't ever tell me one side can't be just as dumb as the other about running campaigns for candidates or issues.
Project 2025 is a Heritage Foundation project that they've had for years. The first had it written up for Ron Desantis and it's not part of Trump's platform or the Republican Party platform. The ability to fire civil servants is a function of the Executive branch and every president has this power. Biden could do the same thing and should have this power. The president doesn't have the power to ban abortion and contraceptives nation wide, that would require the Republicans to retain the House and retake the Senate and win the presidency and even then still may not be able to it because they even get rid of the ACA when they had an opportunity. Yes, lots of Republicans and Libertarian voters would like to shrink the size of the Federal government. That's no secret. It's fear mongering and lies as usual. It's unfortunate that people fall for this crap.
