Given the right prompts, AI will give you a decent "first draft", but not for anything as complex as a screenplay. I've used it to help prepare a grant proposal (though that didn't get funded, so draw from that what you will) and also a document I intend to share with students as to WHY you can't trust it for genuine references, which would also apply to statements of legal precedent...
This is true… but hear me out. As @Ancalagon pointed out, he quickly refused giving the oath to the other guy who fought to save his own life… and this show is full of flashbacks… except the one that could define the whole show. This question could be laid to restin tonight’s episode with one flashback, but I bet they won’t show it. I think the writers want us to ask the question.
Yeah, I’m not sold one way or another but it does seem they want us to ask. Considering how dishonorable many knights act in this world having a non-knight be the most honorable would be fitting.
I would say the S1 finale pretty firmly establishes that Dunc is lying about having been knighted when he calls himself a "fraud." That said, they played things cute with the flashback where he asks Ser Arlen why he never knighted him, then had Ser Arlen appear to die, only to revive and finish his story. So it could be that Dunc is suffering from impostor syndrome and feels like a fraud in that way. Until I see an actual scene with Ser Arlen knighting Dunc, I'm going with he's technically a fake knight, but he's more real than most in the ways that matter, and he's going to earn every one of the four pages in the history of the Kingsguard that we learned he has from GOT
So the flashback to Dunc asking Ser Arlen why he never knighted him was such a hard tease. I think that Dunc’s admission that he is a “fraud” along with him turning down opportunities to become a knight in House Baratheon and Targaryen could be imposter syndrome or a realization that his lie is growing faster and bigger than he can handle. He would have jumped on those offers in episode 1.
I am pretty firmly in the "He's a faaaaaaaaaaake!" camp. But I think the large part of why Dunk declined the offer to train Egg under Targaryen rule is he has been quickly disillusioned about how shitty most actual nobles are. 1. Almost none of the knights knew or acknowledged Ser Arlen despite his having lived and bled for so many of them, and they were pretty contemptuous of the possibility. 2. The royal family except for Baelor and Egg ranged from lying useless coward to contemptuous selfish jerk who totally went for a kill shot on his brother to of course lying hypocrite who picked an unnecessary fight with someone against all rules of chivalry and was willing to put the lives of 14 people at risk to perpetuate his lie 3. In working out the trial of seven, he had a hard time scraping together a team even with all the knights there and even with his cause being obviously just 4. One knight bailed on him because of a bribe. I don't blame Dunk for not wanting to be part of that world. Not to mention the possibility of Daerion (whoops, probably should have said Aerion --stupid Targ names) trying to exact either petty daily revenge or out and out having him killed.
I think an important moment is when Daerion (sp? the drunk brother) says to Dunk ‘He wasn’t always bad you know’ and Dunc assumes he is talking about Egg and defends him but Daerion corrects him and says he was talking about Aerion (sp? the asshole brother). Both his patron the Baratheon Storm King and his little buddy now Ser Raymund Fassoway have talked about how just genetically fucked the crazy ass inbred Targaryian line is but now he is hearing that maybe it isn’t innate but is a product of being raised in a crazy ass court so thinks that the only way he can protect Egg is by taking him out of court. And those are two ridiculous run on sentences/paragraphs in an row and I apologize.
As someone who has had a vested (in varying degrees) interest in theatre since age 10, I've always hated critics. Assholes who can't act or write have the audacity to criticize others as if they have some sort of ... I don't know ... divine authority to determine whether or not a play/movie/music/any art really is something others should or should not enjoy. Fuck them. But I do like Honest Trailers. it's always funny because he comments on the things that are supposed to be funny. he's witty cuz he comments on the parts that are supposed to be witty. The one bit about this trailer I found ... not so much annoying but .... anyway, he says the show is sandwiched between incestuous blondes ( or words to that effect). But Egg did state that one of his older brothers used to sneak into his room at night and we all know to what he was implying. So, still incestuous.
