No. There is no reason for the insurance system we have as it is, and OptumRx is a middle man, and one job of the middle man is to act as the intermediary between a patient, their insurance, and the doctor. Doctor visits and consultations cost money. Appointments take time. Re-evaluations, replacements, these things can be denied by the insurance company. Sometimes the medicine itself has no effective replacement. I take a specific kind of insulin, if I got rejected for that insulin, finding a different formula would take time and likely multiple visits to the doctor. It is not the patient's fault his lifesaving medication jumped 900%. It is the fault of the intermediaries which insist on stepping in-between a patient and their doctor in order to increase their profits.
OptumRx is the online pharmacy of UHC. All he had to do was make a call. Yeah the pharmacy should have offered to call, but that's hardly murder.
He could have advocated for himself more, but yeah that's on the pharmacy and insurer for not filling a generic version of the inhaler. For what it's worth, I have UHC and regularly use Walgreens, and I have been prescribed the same Advair inhaler pretty much every cold and flu season for the past three years. I go through the same thing each time: the pharmacy fills a generic version, and it's never an issue. Obviously, this guy may be under a different plan, but the pharmacy still fucked up by not trying to find an alternative.
I’ve always had to get a new prescription from my doctor to change from brand name to generic. Pharmacy has never done it for me, even if I ask.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14458011/Luigi-Mangione-sex-tape-bombshell.html Any of those videos leak and the prosecution might as well just give up on finding a jury willing to convict. Oh, and someone tried to tell me that him shooting the CEO was to cover up an insider trading scandal. I pointed out that not only did we know about it but that Luigi and the CEO had both already gotten harsher punishments than if the case had gone to trial.
If you would like to get married to Luigi here please keep in mind I am an internet reverend. Prison might be a dealbreaker, though.

It's not about free speech, you dunce. Reddit can legally restrict whatever speech it wants. The issue is, why are they doing this? Answer: They fear the general populace emulating Luigi.
People leave behind uneaten pizza? Well, that'll teach everyone to be as gluttonous as me. It's security.
