So I found this website where you can run your astrological chart for free and they will let you know your Moon, Rising, and other signs. Mine was a hoot, and pretty accurate for the most part. What about the rest of you -- does your chart describe you as well? You can run the report at the link above. BTW -- I do interpretations (rudimentary ones, but still) of charts as well, particularly charts comparing two different people, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Eminence Miss Cleo is on duty. Also, one final note -- since you have to input your birthtime to get the most accurate reading as well as where you were born, the report that's generated also has all that information....so if you're cutting and pasting and don't want that information revealed, be sure to edit. Interesting to find. I don't really believe in the stuff, but it'd be fun to try anyway and see what it says. I remember reading an old book called Linda Goodman's Sun Signs that described my personality to a tee. It was bizarre.
I did mine just for fun, and here's what mine said: A lot of it seemed to be pretty close to how I perceive things, so that was interesting. J.
Here's a quick primer that I've gleaned on how to read these things -- very abstract though, so if someone knows more, please chime in: Sun Sign -- this is what you project to the world...what you are like on the outside. Moon Sign -- this describes your inner emotions and feelings....who are you are on the inside. Rising Sign -- this describes the general sense of where you are heading, or in another way, what you are becoming. Mercury -- this sign is descriptive of how you communicate. Venus -- Love sign, and governs feelings in that area. Mars -- best way to describe this one um...is..I don't know...drive and energy I suppose. It seeks to approximate how those aspects, the kind of day to day energy/drive/ambition etc one might have. Jupiter -- relates to the expansion of horizons or growth in higher understanding. Helps define ones higher level of thinking. This sign moves less quickly than the other ones, about once a year or so, so it's more generational in this way. Saturn -- in a way, it's about restrictions and obstacles, but also it's about how you learn from life and all the things one goes through. Saturn is the eternal teacher one could say. As for the rest, the outer planets, they are more social than personal, and again, describe generations to some extent than they do individuals. Hope this helps in understanding what the signs mean.
Astrology has always been a fascination with me. I've also poked around a little with numerology. Fascinating stuff. J.
When astrology starts to include its missing 13th sign (ophiuchus) i might take it a little more seriously Also, how can 2 people born in the same place at the same time have such different personalities?
Here's mine. Only part of it really fits me. Edit: My readings never really reflect my real personality so I've never believed in them, just thought them good entertainment. When someone can do a "good" reading of me, then I'll believe.
Well, I can try. Do you have a specific question or just in general? There's some information in a post above about how to read these charts....or if there's something specific, just ask and I'll see if I know the answer.
They'd probably share some commonalities, but would they be identical? -- nah, not even identical twins share identical personalities. There are just too many other inputs that go into a person's life and makeup to make any one consideration declarative, and I think astrology fits that bill as well. It can (sometimes) though elucidate certain trends/behaviors that people may see in their lives, and in the end it's all about fun/fascination anyway. Hope that helps.
How does astrology explain complete opposites being born at the same time 10 metres apart? Oh and what about the missing star sign? doesnt that mess up calculations a bit?
How the signs are manifest can vary from person to person and that may account for the disparities you mention. Additionally, as I mentioned above, a sense of self has many ingredients (biology, environment, etc) and no one aspect I think speaks with any finality. As for the 13th sign, I believe there are some forms of astrology that do incorporate this 13th sign into their calculations. Western astrology hasn't revised its methodology, but others I think have.
Great chart Leellana. As for the differences you've observed, this may be because several of your placements (and some very important ones) are cuspal in nature -- your Rising Sign, Venus, and Mars are all within 7-8 degrees of the next sign, so that makes you a cusp in those houses. To get the best reading in those instances then, extend your placement to the next sign (or if you were 00-08, to the previous one)....and that should, theoretically, give you a somewhat better reading. For example in this instance -- consider your rising sign: while formally placed in Leo, you are actually more of a Leo/Virgo cusp. This would then, in addition to the Leo, bring about some Virgo aspects as well in to your Rising Sign. Similarly, for Venus then....you would become Cancer/Leo, so add some Leo aspects to your usual Cancer Venus Sign. And for Mars, you are again a late Leo, so you would become Leo/Virgo cusp, thus adding some Virgo to your Mars sign. I should point out that the Leo/Virgo cusp is a pretty vast one -- Leo's and Virgo's are pretty different, so this may be another reason why astrological charts have only been halfway approximations for you. Hope this helps.
I didnt know astrology was about fun... edit: oh... and laughing gas technically is actualy sleeping gas....
Actually, there's some good investigation to be done into why so many athletes are born at a certain time of year, so many politicians, etc. I worked in a newsroom once where the only person who wasn't a Libra was an Aquarius - one of the related signs. Not that I think it has anything to do with astrology: I think climatic conditions, position in the school year, and a few other matters would be far more important. But it's worth investigation, IMHO. Oh, and for the record: daughter is a Virgo, and she's almost as untidy as me. And I'm Libra, OH is Scorpio: we're supposed to be totally incompatible. Luckily nobody objected on those grounds when we got married nearly 26 years ago...
Been done. It's about how birth time, (month and year), and area plays a significant factor in success, why we DON'T all have the chance to be Bill Gates if we just worked hard enough, but equally, no-one seems to have been born with extraordinary talent.
I'd like to know anything at all about how you deduce information about a persons life or personality from where celestial objects are in relation to earth.
