Yep, it's all about power and advantage. I think part of it, too, is that these same people have been just as guilty in so many ways, so by letting Matt just kind of slide out of the picture and face nothing, they keep the path opened for when someone tries to hold something over them. I mean, if a guy can pay a minor for sex and the collective response from his peers is "meh," then what the fuck does anything even mean when it comes to law and order?
