Dolly is a very talented and just an all around impressive woman who knows how to get things accomplished without coming off as either a slut or bitch - which is very difficult to do in today’s world. Olivia, OTOH, has talent and is an impressive singer. I really like most of her songs (although, I may destroy whatever audio device is playing next time I hear Xanadu). But neither could reach the same notes as Whitney singing Dolly’s “I will always love you”. I like both versions, but Whitney’s seems to be more popular.
Same. But, I was lucky in that I had 4 older siblings, two of whom were popular amongst their peers, so I was exposed to current rock music even if not from my parents. One year, I must have been around 8 or 9 …. (Actually, might have been just before I turned 8), my sister had a birthday party and was allowed to invite over some friends. We had a pool table and portable stereo set up in the basement (think that 70s show with less furniture), I snuck downstairs and climbed onto the stool someone placed near the stereo. That’s when I discovered Black Sabbath. Then my sister spotted me and her 15 year old bitchy self shouted till my mother came and took me back upstairs. Fucking bitch.
I'm an ONJ stan from literally teenage years (and love the soundtrack to Xanadu) BUT I will absolutely argue that "Physical" is hot garbage, I don't care how popular it was back in the day. Not only that, but other than one other song on the same album, everything else she released after that was mediocre at best. I don't know if there's a connection between those.
I agree. She isn’t a songwriter or lyricist. She sings. And acts. Those are her talents. it’s too bad her agent tried to push her career in a certain direction.
This is fun: half alive - Sophie's House This is slick: Siames - The Wolf This is very silly: Junior Senior - Move Your Feet
In honor of the Prince of Darkness who has now left us. Rest in peace, Ozzy. "Straight to Hell," by Ozzy Osbourne
Thanks for posting that -- my nephew's birthday's coming up this weekend Been a while since I've listened to this mashup, and I can easily see how Holst and Hindemith could get in on the action via Mars and 3rd movement of Symphony in Eb, respectively. Does need some Brahms, Joplin, John Williams, though, and add in some Grainger, Vaughn Williams, Phillip Glass, Philip Sparke and Johan de Meij for good measure
If this is already posted here I'm sorry but I really do love this song, and this video. It's especially great knowing it's filmed in a real German village out in the countryside.
The only live vid I believed was captured better is Little Big's 'Antipositive' which I think I'll poast next...
Okay last one for a while. This one always makes me feel like smashing the establishment might actually be possible...
