And furthermore, it didn't have much to do with your claim that he was comparing corporate media with Soviet media, which clearly is not the same as comparing the merits of the two societies. They are. The embed program was the compromise between letting the press "run free" in Vietnam and restricting and alienating them during the years between then and 2003. The media got the good access that they had during Vietnam, but the "message" was more controlled.
