Rumor has it his staff left to work for Rick Perry. Don't know how to feel about Perry running for President though, he's pretty hardcore Republican. Quite a few things I can say I'm not comfortable with, and I'm a Republican. Anyhoo, as for Newt, his "reboot" attempt will likely step into a cow pie.
Gotta admit, I don't know if I can go there. His Corridor Project sure shit on a lot of people and he's still trying to shove it down our throats, or should I say up our asses. Imminent domain abuse at its finest.
Yeah, I voted for Perry a couple of times (I've known him for more than 20 years), but he's gone 'round the bend. No way would I vote for that guy for President. is right.
Well, truth be told, I too voted for him a couple of times but I was really kind of hoping Kay would have made a better showing this last time out just for the principal of the matter. Too many "pals" involved in these projects to fit my tastes from the Corridor to the vaccine deal it all has a taint to it and like I said, I'm all for buisnesses succeeding. While I have no problem with governors having a friendly relationship with contractors, time and again Rick finds his ass in the crosshairs for being a bit too chummy with some of them.
The Corridor pissed me off, but what really did it was him wanting to turn some existing highways into tollways. Fuck that. Those roads were built with tax dollars years ago. I don't mind toll roads, but build them new. Don't make me pay extra to use something that's already been there for decades.
I'm hip. The idea of a nonstop shelling of cash to drive to Dallas on 45 just burned my ass. Top it off with the fact that it wouldn't be the state running operations, oh no, there were private companies that were set to take on the task. When I was a kid, there was a causway built to Padre Island down in Corpus to replace the swing bridges and other antiquated systems in place. They built it, set up toll booths and you paid to go to the island. When the road was paid for, the bulldozers came in and took out the booths. I'll never forget that. These days they keep them up under the guise of maintaining them, never mind that the state is no longer involved. Apparently it's all the rage to save taxpayer monies by doing this. What a load of horseshit. Just like the privatization of prisons. Pah.
It has to do with a system of transportation that would inorporate not only roads but oil and gas lines, rail transport and a pasenger train system. I-69 is the intended moniker for this stretch but it stands to be seen if they actually can get the jab done. There is a hell of a lot of resistance from the people of the state to it and the usual burying of key components to push it through are usually piggybacked with do or die bills they run through Austin. Typical politics but on steroids. I never liked the idea. Still don't.
I honestly think he knew he had a slim chance and after his campaign opening debacle knew he had zero chance and just said, "fuck it I'm going on vacation, I'll just run to play spoiler and raise some cash."
Not surprising. You can't charge as much for speaking fees if you're no longer running for President of the United States.
No doubt. We have the President's battle ax out here visiting today too. Apparently they needed to make another withdrawal from the Bank of California. People are paying $10k a plate to have lunch with Michelle. For that $10k they will have get to spend a small amount of individual time with her as well. Talk about an expensive prostitute.
