I was using your post because of that thought that popped into my head. I didn't really think you wanted to go full blown conspiracy theory. I have family members that do, so it is often something that enters my head thinking it is something they would say.

My associates on the right on FB are already going full blown attack and claiming how violent the left are. It is terrifying.

Recent trends in violence point towards Republicans and MAGAts. We don't make policies in 2025 based on who killed Abe Lincoln.

Also I don't see every post dancing on a grave-I see people working out that Charlie Kirk said some awful things, disavowing violence, but saying they don't feel for him as he also showed no empathy in times of shootings. And if Charlie Kirk has personally called for the death of trans people, gay people or anyone-I can see how those people would be less than sympathetic to the situation. I don't agree with violence-and I don't agree with what he stood for and I only just started researching it today.

If you are going to stand against such violence-try standing up to it with someone you didn't agree with-such as the MN representatives.

And that’s the other thing… he’s just not that evil compared to Nick Fuentes or Stephen Miller or any number of others. Charlie Kirk loses debates to even remotely prepared college students.

I think that's overly fatalist.

Yes, "fascists gonna fash". That's true. But only a hardcore of Trumps circle are committed fascists or fascist-adjacent.
The majority of Trump voters, sympathisers and waverers are not permanently "whipped up" in any real sense. Perhaps a generalisation but one with some grounding in reality - they are bigoted and nasty, absolutely. But also ill-informed, disoriented and politically lazy. They absolutely do need to be motivated to get behind a "fascist roadmap". And this murder has the potentially to fuel that.

You also do your society a disservice in implying that implementing such a roadmap is subject only to them "going to do" it. The situation is not exactly positive but they face significant legal, cultural and political obstacles that they cannot easily steamroll. And again, a narrative of right-wing personalities being maryred by terroristic lefties is one of the things that can enable that.

Finally, lest the perception develop that I am some sort of pacifist with regard to Trump and his likes - I am not. There certainly can be a justification for very direct action. But one of the pre-requisites for that is that it achieves some goal, or makes the situation better. That is very far from being the case with Charlie Kirk.

I honestly was only vaguely aware of Charlie Kirk. I knew South Park did a recent spoof on him, but I had never seen a speech or youtube video of him. After this all happened I decided to watch a few clips. Its very easy to see why the left hates him and is glad that he is now silenced. Kirk traveled on college campuses called "Prove me wrong" where he would have open discussions with anyone. Most who challenged him were like a few posters here: ignorant, stupid people who get their misinformation from social media. He would destroy them within a few back and forth (not that hard as their entire arguments were based on the same bullshit I read here) while doing it in a soft, level headed tone. There were thousands of young people at that event. Clearly he was having an effect on the youth movement, so of course some deranged left winger wanted to take him out. But really all that was accomplished was making him a martyr and galvanizing conservatives.

I always peruse conservative media because I want to know what my political opponents are saying.

A few things I keep hearing: he devoted his life to God and the Gospel. Really? This guy was not an example of a Christian worthy of praise. He is a martyr. Really? See my first point. Martyrs are persecuted for their righteousness. Not this guy. Lastly, this was definitely done by a person on the evil left. This point keeps getting repeated over and over.
