okay, maybe it's a math "word problem" and Laura leaves from off the west coast of Africa traveling 15 miles-per-hour etc. etc. but how did tropical storm Marco get ahead of Laura if we name them in alphabetical order? Maybe it has something to do with the metric system or driving on the left hand side of the road, but alphabetical order generally means the letter L comes before the letter M. Thus Laura formed first, yet Marco is about to hit Louisiana and Laura is a few days behind Marco! Maybe it's part of the 2020 madness....nothing would surprise me at this point. Laura formed into a tropical storm Friday morning before Marco did on Friday night. They don't get named until they reach tropical storm status. Plus Marco developed closer to the US than Laura did.
STAY SAFE FOLKS! I don't think we have any WF members living on the Texas/Louisiana coast but if it applies, get...the...hell...out...of...Dodge! Evacuations are underway, don't delay!
WOW! 2 hurricanes essentially hitting within a very short time of each other. The destruction these storms will cause is horrible, but it's a fascinating weather event. It must happen VERY infrequently.
Jeebus, the National Weather Service is saying a possible TWENTY FOOT storm surge along the Texas/Louisiana coast. What oldfella said, if you're in that area get the hell out while you can.
KPLC in Lake Charles: “The bad news is that our tower fell down. The good news is that now the studio has a sky light.”
Like how these two new disturbances formed after the two earlier ones, but did so much closer to the US.
