The Seattle Mariners will be facing the Toronto Blue Jays in the ‘American League Championship Series’ however it is my contention that Canadian teams aren’t real baseball teams. This is a folly! It is a farce! Canadians can’t play baseball what the fuck are you talking about?!?!?
Funny thing is in Vancouver there’s a good chance more people are rooting for Seattle over Toronto Not having a team of our own most baseball fans here have always cheered for the Mariners, mostly because of geographic closeness but there’s also that “fuck Toronto sports” attitude that’s prevalent in a lot of Canada
With only North American teams. There are Canadian teams in the big leagues, and if one of them qualifies, the "World" Series will be international. (Unless both of them are Canadian...)
Fun fact: It's called that because the series was originally sponsored by a newspaper of the same name.
Montreal needs to fix that. I'm imagining something like << The/Les Quebecois français >> Also, Vancouver needs a team. How about the Vancouver Forest Fires? Finally, now that I know the lore behind the 'World Series' name, it's time it lives up to the expected meaning. Get Cuba and Japan into the mix.
Color commentator just wondered if Seattle’s struggles were due to playing at such a ‘northern altitude’. IT’S FUCKING LATITUDE AND GUESS WHICH CITY IS FURTHER NORTH YOU FUCKING MORON! (Also this game is not going the way I want it to go)
BOOM SHACKALACKA! WHO IS THE TRUE NORTH BRAVE AND FREE BITCHES?!?!? WHO WAS STANDING GUARD WHILE WE WALKED IN AND FUCKED YOU IN THE ASS?!?!?
The Blue Jays do not currently have a Canadian on the major league roster. Seattle has at least one though.
Nah Montreal sports are pretty cool, the Canadiens are pretty well respected, definitely more than the Maple Leafs
which is kinda curious given it's been 33 years and they've made it out of the 2nd round maybe twice. nobody cares about the CFL (other than my friend, Erin). Any idea how MLS is doing there?
Josh Naylor aka Thicky Henderson is Canada's new Prime Minister. Them's the rules. https://bsky.app/profile/jacobc.bsky.social/post/3m34eo6nevc2n
I’m sure a lot do root for the Mariners or at least have dual loyalties but usually Jays at home are the biggest regular season crowds at T-Mobile Park and half are wearing the wrong shade of blue. Usually. This year not so much. Lots of pics of empty stands compared to past years and stories from hospitality folks about not seeing the bumps they are used to. But to your main point year. Like until the Kraken came everyone here was Canucks fans (and even now a lot of residual… second team loyalty).
