Not having a team of our own most baseball fans here have always cheered for the Mariners, mostly because of geographic closeness but there’s also that “fuck Toronto sports” attitude that’s prevalent in a lot of Canada

With only North American teams. There are Canadian teams in the big leagues, and if one of them qualifies, the "World" Series will be international. (Unless both of them are Canadian...)
