Oh! And this dropped during the board crash; Nick Cage is confirmed to be in the live-action Spider-Man Noir series.

Probably as Alicia Masters, which increases my belief that Malkovich is going to be Puppet Master.

Well, they did do a whole soap opera arc where Alicia got sick of Ben's shit and fucked around with Johnny, and ripped Ben's heart out.
Then Ben and Johnny had to learn to be friends again, and work together, and bury the hatchet.
But, they binned all that by having that Alicia be a Skrull, so....

Here's the thing: to the extent Marvel is woke, it's no more so than it was when they were turning out banger after banger. The first Captain Marvel was a billion dollar movie. and no more woke than the second one, which was a flop.

Is that more with the TV shows, which I don't really watch? I can't think of any Marvel movies that are "woke"

I just finished X-Men 97, I can't find the thread, but that was amazing. They had nice call backs to other Marvel characters. I can't wait to see what's next.

Marvel's been "woke" since the fucking 60's.
If you widen the goalposts to when they were Timely and Atlas, the 40's.
Captain America punching Hitler came out when America was isolationist.
It would have been like having a superhero punch Putin, and dropping the copies off in heavy MAGA country.

Another thing I want to point out is that the movies didn’t do justice to just how powerful the mutants are, especially Professor X.

Dwayne Johnson signed a sweetheart deal with Disney.
I'm putting it here, cuz I'm naturally assuming with his physique, and just coming off a bitter divorce with DC, he's being courted by Marvel.

But...it could be Star Wars, it could be just more Moana shit, who knows?

I'm pretty sure the whole of the Fox X-Men films was pretty woke too.
Hell, Marvel Comics from the very beginning was pretty fucking woke.
So you're saying they are...faithful to the source material?

So how long until he starts demanding his character, whoever he plays, gets to fight the Hulk?

Personally, I think the X-Men films are more morally nutritious than Star Wars, and have just as much rock 'em sock 'em and razzle dazzle.
Hell, the first one even has Darth Maul.
I'll take bad X-Men over bad Star Wars.

Maybe that lack of nutrition in SW is really what's turned you off the franchise.

The SW novels dig into what a seething little bigot Palpatine is, but the visual media is scared to "go there" for fear of pissing off the FFs and UAs out there.
No, it's not enough to have more girls and gays on the good guy's team.
It needs to be made clear "the Empire is Chuddy, and that's not on".
