Well funnily enough there was quite a lot of coverage of him for about 18 months during the campaign! And if I didn't agree with everything he said, and thought he was a bit light on the details and heavy on the rhetoric, I was pretty clear he wasn't stupid.

I hope he isn't dead, but when people quit online communities they either tend to make a public show of it and sever, or slowly drift away. Zombie was very active one day, in the middle of a bunch of conversations, and then his account just never had any activity ever again.

I realize that you had someone else in mind when you posted this, but that doesn't match my experience at all. I have been a member of various FB groups or other online forums and there's come a moment when I was like, "Nah, fuck those guys" and I've just left, without ever looking back. Sure, I'm a bit of a weirdo, but am I that much more of a weirdo than folks who've posted in the same places I have? Probably not.

And because of the particular vulgarities of my personal situation, if I were to drop dead tomorrow, the odds of that information propagating to social media well enough that someone here would know about it, even though I'm friends with a number of folks here on places like FB, are pretty low.
