Thank you. It got several members of my family, but I survived. In my case, I had managed to get both shots before I got hit. I felt like death for a week, but I didn't die.
Although I’m not entirely sure it was COVID. He was vaxxed and a couple months earlier had changed his avatar to a graveyard with his location being ‘The only race that matters’ so there could have been other issues.
I'm almost certain that OldFella is still alive, he uses the same username on a few sites and a few months after he stopped posting here I did a quick look just in case it was the worst but he was still active on them.
My business partner (who is several years older than I am) is from tough German/Nebraska stock and he came down with it soon after the vaccines became available and he had the same experience. We're talking about someone who's so tough that when a bug bites him, the bug dies...but he was sick as a fucking dog. He said the doctor assured him that the vaccines were working and that he wasn't going to die and wasn't going to have to go to the hospital. Scary stuff, though...especially for people who aren't used to being sick.
I'm glad he came out of it okay. Yeah, the vaccines did their job, they kept us alive. The people who tell me "it's just the flu," I can only shake my head at them and wonder just how fortunate they are not to have to experience it as someone with a poor immune system and chronic illness.
On the other hand, you have my partner who just doesn't get sick and it scared the crap out of him. He's quite sure he would have croaked without the vaccine.
The UK has introduced draconian restrictions on the right to protest, proscribed activist groups under anti-terrorist legislation, and now want to introduce mandatory ID and get rid of jury trials. It's not good.
