Frankly, "niggardly" is so archaic that anytime you hear it used, you can be pretty damn sure that "tee hee hee, I said something that sounded like a bad word" is the most charitable interpretation.
To be niggardly is to be stingy, miserly, tight-fisted, a cheapskate, a penny pincher, or one who throws nickels around like manhole covers, "if you're not into the whole brevity thing." So no, you were not using that word correctly, and anyway there are many other ways of expressing the same idea that don't so readily lend themselves to misinterpretation.
Imagine replying to a 2+ year old thread where everyone voted that picnic is not a racist word, only to deliberately use a word that within the context of the thread can only be interpreted to be racist. And then imagine that one did this on a fucking school night when a quiz is in first period tomorrow and one hasn't even studied.
Neither did suddenly deciding the hand gesture for "OK" meant "white power" instead, but here we are.
I don't think anyone on my side of the argument "decided" the OK hand gesture meant white power. White Supremacists did. The fact that you aren't aware of it just means that you know little about the current white supremacist movement.
No, it means I know a great deal about how idiots fall for made-up shit on the internet. As the last ~20 months of COVID misinformation and "Trump is still President" bullshit amply demonstrates.
It started off as a 4Chan prank, "let's make lefties look stupid by convincing them the OK gesture means white power,"but after a short period of white supremacists using the gesture ironically, they started doing it sincerely.
Grade school was a while ago for me, but I still remember dumb kids trying to turn reggae into some kind of "Ray Gay" burn on me, saying "faggot" instead of forget, "homo" instead of "home," and other juvenile stupidity. I'm pretty sure everyone has met the "I was just talking about female dogs!" kid at least once in their lives. Picnic, once you start pronouncing it like Yogi Bear, has three syllables. From there it's an easy just to "pick-a-nig," which is stupid, but that's what stupid kids do. Pretending that language never evolves is absurd. You'll note the same people that deny this sort of thing have no problem recognizing that "wypipo" is more than just a bunch of random letters, despite it not being a real word thirty years ago. *The "adult" customer service version of this is to serve fat customers more slowly so you can say "I'm sorry about your weight, your weight was completely unacceptable" with plausible deniability.
If you haven’t noticed, “made-up shit on the internet” has been manifesting in what used to be called real life with alarming frequency. Maybe it’s time to start taking it a bit more seriously. I once worked with someone who related that when he was working at a fast food drive-thru, he and his buddies would say “thanks, slut” so they could plausibly claim to have said, “thanks a lot.”
Thank goodness Sokar is dead, otherwise we'd be seeing him use this name for you for the next 2 years.
