I have a kid in the third grade and they focus pretty hard on EDUCATING. Reading, math, the whole deal.

They do, however, insist that the students treat each other and their teachers with respect, which includes very basic notions of politeness such as not purposefully misgendering others out of spite. If noted children's development expert Uncle Albert believes this is teaching "fairy tales," I'm glad he has no influence over my school district. I'd rather have my kid being influenced by love and acceptance than cynical bigotry.
