Although it can't really be summarized, three major points emerge: (1) she's a liar, (2) she's a grifter, and (3) she is absolutely part of a movement that aims to eliminate transgender people entirely, and sports is just what they see as the easiest entry point.

Considering her initial response was along the lines of "I'm a little disappointed I had to pose for photos with the 6th place trophy, but NCAA is gonna NCAA, it's not really a big deal." I'm pretty sure the Legion of Anti-Transness offered her a briefcase full of money along with the promise "there's more where that came from," and her response was "Wow, I just realized that, deep down inside, I'm a total cunt! Deal!"

While not really relevant to anything being discussed here: If I was a trans athlete who tied for fifth place with a cis athlete, and was told one of us would have to temporarily accept a sixth place while a second fifth place trophy was created and shipped, I would have requested that I be given the sixth place trophy, that they not make a new fifth place trophy for me, and then I would scratch out the 6 and inscribe a 5 myself. If I was trans, taking a non-fifth place trophy and turning it into a fifth place trophy would be exactly the kind of symbolism I'd be into. Note: This is what I would do personally and is not meant to suggest that Lia Thomas, or anyone in a similar situation, should or should have made the same decision.

Update on the Kansas bill, it has been rushed through the Kansas legislature and passed. Now it goes to the Governor's desk. She can veto it, but with a 2/3rds majority the Kansas state legislature can override the veto, which they will very likely do considering how fast it was passed. As a result, not only will there be bathroom bounty hunters, but trans people who are caught in the "wrong" bathrooms must turn over their licenses and their birth certificates if their gender doesn't match their assigned birth, at which point those documents will be considered invalid.
