If 10 million people immigrated here legally every year, I'd have no problem with it; we'd know exactly who and how many are here, and would have the control of the boundaries to take in as many as our resources could bear, and base said immigration on a criteria of need if we so desired.

As I said, if telling people (and yourself) that their reasons for opposing something aren't really what they are but rather something that makes it easier for you to feel noble about your opinion, so be it.
