"A space station? Ugh, how is that Star Trek? They're just going to boldly sit while new life comes to them!" Said every Trek fan when DS9 was announced. So yeah, whatever.
I bet this Klingon is a literal pacifist. I bet this Klingon's mom followed him to Starfleet Academy and does his laundry for him on weekends. I bet this Klingon has a weekly session with a therapist.
DS9's "Let He Who Is Without Sin..." is on H&I. Where we found out teenage Worf head-butted a soccer player, and accidentally killed him. Maybe Worf coulda used some therapy.
That poster fair screams "people you'd like to see boldly murdered, in horrific ways that no one has ever been murdered in before"
Just what Trek needs, New Age Klingons. Riker enters Worf's quarters, and begins sniffing curiously. Riker: Worf... That smell, I could swear it reminds of something when I'm on Klingon vessels Worf: It was a gift from K'Ehleyr, a candle, Commander Riker: the scent Worf though... Worf: It is of her vagina, from the Pah'l'tro G'p ceremony Riker slowly backs out, with a look of horror, but secretly wondering if he'd smelled it previously it was because he'd gotten all the Klingon ladies all moist
Way to miss the point. Every time Trek does something different, the fans shit all over it. Happened with TNG. Happened with DS9. Happened with Lower Decks. Happened with Prodigy. Maybe it will suck. Maybe it won't. I'll wait until the series airs to decide. Until then, I will remember the preview for "Tsunkatse", which was advertised by a narrator saying "WWF's smackdown superstar takes on Voyager's battlestar babe!"
I am looking forward to seeing what kind of backstory they give the Femme'Hadar (stole that one from Reddit). So far, I have four theories. All of them start from the assumption that the Founders did not create the Jem'Hadar from scratch. This, I think, is logical: for an interstellar power with vast territory, it would be much simpler to find a species that had the right set of characteristics, kidnap a whole bunch, and then just genetically engineer the fuck out of them. (Maybe literally.) Theory 1: She is not a descendant of the DS9 Jem'Hadar at all, but a cousin. The DS9 Jem'Hadar are engineered to be all male, but she is descended from the unaltered population that was left on their homeworld. Theory 2: The Founders did not actually remove the Jem'Hadar's ability to reproduce sexually; they just suppressed the urge as part of the process whereby they programmed their cloned male Jem'Hadar to have no interest in anything other than fighting and dying for the Dominion. After the war ended, Julian Bashir led an effort to first cure the Jem'Hadar of their ketracel white addiction and then find their homeworld and reunite them. Theory 3: All Jem'Hadar reproduce sexually, but their population skews heavily male. A single Jem'Hadar female can produce hundreds of offspring, and the Founders kept Jem'Hadar females captive for their eggs. (In the society shaped by this dimorphism, what price would a queen pay for leaving her people and joining Starfleet?) Theory 4: The natural state of Jem'Hadar is to be sequentially hermaphroditic. They are all born male, live the first half of their lives as male, and then mature into females in middle age. The reason we never saw any female Jem'Hadar is that all the Jem'Hadar in DS9 died young (this is stated in dialogue at least once).
Let's put a pin in this for later since it's interesting in our discussion of Starfleet Academy you've brought up one of the worst DS9 episodes...
I think it's probably a lot simpler. What we saw the infancy of in DS9, that the Jem'Hadar were starting to develop their own unique culture, has simply continued over the next several centuries. It would be, i think, logical that a free Jem'Hadar society would alter their genetic programming so that they could eat, sleep and fuck. It may even be something Odo pushed for.
You’re giving these writers too much credit that they w deserve. At best or will be a passing footnote. All they know are memberberries.
It could also be that the Ketracel White did more than being addictive and providing the enzyme that the Jem'Hadar couldn't produce. Some reptiles can change sex spontaneously if there aren't females present. The White could have suppressed that ability, over time the need for the White was eliminated and resulted in the ability for spontaneous sex change allows for females. Jem'Hadar are all born male and change as needed by the environment or lack of females. That's just my theory, the show may just say that there are females now after hundreds of years
