Next Wednesday, large parts of Texas will be hotter than 99% of the planet during the peak of the heatwave.

Widespread temperatures of 110˚F or higher are forecast.

Only the Sahara Desert & Persian Gulf area will be as hot or hotter () than the Lone Star State

Should this go here or the Climate Change thread?

I gather if it weren’t for renewable/sustainable energy they’d be totally fucked. :?:

Just like last winter's big storm and even the really bad one from a couple of years ago, but the anti-renewables shitheads won't admit it.

What do you expect? The majority of the people in the state think Texas is it’s own country.

The first dojo we had in Boise was next to an office with a generic title (can't remember it...that's how generic it was) staffed by some seedy looking slavic guys who were always smoking and left the wet bar we shared a mess. This was almost 10 years ago and back then bitcoin and such were strictly dark web type stuff. We left after a few months and some time later that wing of the office complex burned down. I've often wondered if they were Ukranians or Russians...either way they were a skeevy looking bunch that we were all happy to avoid. :shep:

Yeah, that is not how utilities work. I am not a lawyer, but I have worked for companies considered utilities and it does not work that way. Not to mention there are things like SLA (Service level agreements) that are formed through contracts between providers and commercial entities. I know texass wants to toss all of that out because their fail power companies have some financial liability, but I am pretty sure that is not getting very far once it gets appealed to federal court by the corporations.

That is a good try by texass, but I am pretty sure that is not going to last very long. Maybe the power companies will get lucky and they will fuck residential customers while opening things up for corporate customers, but that is a long shot.

Holy shit. I am really dreading the next bad hurricane season here in florida. Maybe it won't be so bad since we do not have that really awesome unregulated texass power grid, but it seems like the trumpanzees are a bit off the hook.
