Trump's DOJ is fighting tooth and nail against having to provide ASL intepreters at presidential events. They claim that it would "would severely intrude on the President’s prerogative to control the image he presents to the public."

Is this another knee-jerk "anything that involves making accommodations for other people is woke" thing, or does it come from the fact that Trump —‚the guy who insisted that wounded veterans be kept out of military parades and told his nephew that maybe the nephew should just let his disabled son die — thinks people with disabilities are icky?

Who knows but it really does seem the last month or so could end up being a turning point.

First it was failing to stop the release of the Epstein Files.
Then MTG coming out against him.
Then the Indiana Republicans defying him on redistricting.
Now it is the near total condemnation of his Rob Reiner statements.

Has the party looked at his record low approval numbers, lack of energy and lame duck status and decided he isn’t as powerful as he used to be and not the future of the party?

Could be. I mean, the guy himself has not changed — he's always been a piece of trash. But maybe now some the craven opportunists who make up his morally bankrupt political party are starting to hedge their bets?

And maybe they see him declining (even though all his sycophants deny it) and realize they don't need to be as afraid of him any more. He can't destoy them politically.

Of course, that doesn't explain those who have no political power and who were going along with him for a different reason but now aren't as afraid to speak up, like those on Truth Social who are criticizing him for his horrible post about the death of Rob Reiner. Maybe some of them are just beginning to realize that, after all, the emperor isn't wearing any clothes...

This is much ado about nothing to his base.

A classic case of CYA. She is trying to save her political career and others in the White House are trying to save their image, but it's too late. The damage is done. I expect she will not be a part of the administration for much longer. And once the wrath of the childish cheeto comes down on her (firing her, saying she is low-IQ, disloyal, was never actually any good at the job, etc), she will probably change her tune and admit that things are even worse than what she said here.

Though, in fairness to the bimbo, Wiles is her boss and could’ve shut the thing down any time she wanted.
