I know there is an election going on in German but Merkel is doing as much damage as Trump to the Atlantic alliance. Not to mention Germany is still not living up to its treaty obligations and spouting off absurd nonsense about Brexit.

If you want a recent example, you've no need to look any further at any of the various posts gturner made about Hillary, questioning her mental competency. I will grant you that such comments aren't often justified, I, for one, would never claim that Ike, Nixon, Ford, or any of the Bushes, were suffering from something like Alzheimer's while they were President.

I would like to see younger presidents. Once Obama got elected I honestly thought we would never see another elderly president - I was wrong. Hillary and Trump are both old.
Nothing wrong with being old, but you just don't have as much skin in the game when you are "on your way out" and you do not have your finger on the pulse of the future (the younger people) at that point in your life. You are way past your prime mentally, full stop. Experience and attitude matter, no doubt - but there are plenty of qualified potential presidents actually younger than dirt.

I would definitely claim that Reagan spent four years in a mental fog while his brain rotted out of his head. Literally, 1984-1988 Reagan couldn't even remember to pull his pants down before he pissed himself.
