    I can understand that.

Me, I don't consider myself a patriot. I don't care for much of American history in the sense that outside of a handful of moments, it is replete with just awful, awful human rights abuses.

That said, I love the framework of the Constitution as a fantastic foundation for real human rights, and I believe it to be a living document that should update itself to free more and more people as it continues to exist. I love the Declaration of Independence as a beautiful "fuck you, we're out" letter to King George.

My favorite founding father is Benjamin Franklin, even though I am aware of his own very human shortcomings. He was an abolitionist, a true Renaissance man when it came to divining the politics and civil crises of the day, and was an advocate for many social and political positions that made his slave owning associates quite angry, which just makes me like him even more. He was a delightful trouble maker in ways that lead to positive outcomes for the marginalized and oppressed.

I despise Donald Trump because he's a fascist, a cruel, petty, venal man, and a dullard whose imagination stops at the shiny allure of gold and sex. If I were still a Christian, I would easily see him as the modern day antiChrist, and he truly does fulfill all of those seven deadly sins. It's one of the reasons why any time I see a "Christian" talking about how good of a man he is, I wonder just who they've harmed in order to keep up the pretense that they're somehow good people.

Still, I love the idea of a country based on the freedom to be. The freedom to pursue life, liberty, happiness, without being pressed down and enslaved. I love the potential this country has to be a truly great nation, but it's not there and it has never been there, but it could be there some day, if only we would strive for it and become smarter and wiser about whom we choose to represent us in that goal.

As you well fucking know, I have repeatedly stated you cannot wreck shit, hurt people, steal from them or interfere with their movements while having your swell little protest. Doesn't matter if I agree with your cause or not, if you hold yourself to this standard of civility, I am indifferent to you.

Suffragettes derailed trains. Guess you don't want Jenee to be able to vote anymore. Oh well, sucks to be her, huh?

Because there is no other way to get the vote.

And also because there is anything remotely similar in modern times.

At least no fuckhead chimed in with "Boston Tea Party" yet.

This is true. Significant rights always need to be fought for. The ruling classes don't just hand them away out of magnanimity.

British opinions haven't mattered since the end of WWII. And nowadays with the Dark Muslim invasion the face of 'englishness' is being wiped out by curry shops and elected mayors that can't even speak proper English.

I’m no historian but if I remember correctly it’s pretty much the opposite of unity. Like the first sentence literally talks about separation.

When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for a people to dissolve the political bonds that something something something they owe to mankind to declare the reasons (or something like that - it’s been a while).
