To make sure that you're not going to be stepping on others that wish to exercise their right to free speech. To pay for things like trash pickup and what not. To let people who may have business in the area or have to pass through you intend to protest in that they may be delayed or might need to find alternate route or make other arrangements. Your right to protest ends at my right to live my life. Myself and the rest of society are obligated to provide you reasonable accomadation to carry out your protest. You however do not have carte blanche to to act like a dick.
Yeah, sure, but you'd get the same kinds of overlap if you used government and harvard or some other heads-up-their-own-asses ivy league school. You've made no big reveal here. Might be all it means is that Goldman hires some of the smartest people. And some of them want power over money (or power after they've amassed their fortune, like Corzine who bought a governorship in one of the top 3 corrupt states in the Union). [And it wouldn't even be a bad thing if you're among those that believe that smart people owe something back to the state what raised 'em.] Though I'm really happy for you that you've discovered this outrage. If we removed all harvard grads from US history of politics/government then half our government would disappear overnight. If you removed all the Goldman alums from history, it'd barely make a dent in the anals of US government. [hee, anal.]
Just wondering- Presumably a number of the occupiers in that scene are students who have paid a shit load of money to be on the grounds. Also presuming that there's generally nothing against peaceful demonstrations in the student COC . Thus, if the chancellor ordered them removed, isn't he exceeding the university's authority and obligation?
Pregnant Woman Blasted with Pepper Spray and Beaten by SPD Miscarries. Every fetus is sacred... unless the mother is a dirty hippy.
I remember her being pepper sprayed but I don't remember those "evil" cops kicking her. It's possible I just missed that part. The videos I've seen show the police spraying but I don't see any police kicking anyone. And Pepper Spray got to the baby? Was a factor five days after being sprayed? Bull fucking shit. And conveniently there are no records. Yet. She's homeless. Probably drinks, smokes and does drugs. She's a high risk pregnancy automatically by being homeless (and not just because she's probably drinking, smoking and drugging herself) because she doesn't have access to good food and other stuff. No doctor in their right mind would say conclusively that it was the "kick" and the "pepper spray" that caused the miscarriage without it being investigated by the hospital. We don't even know if she was really pregnant because the Hospital can't comment on her medical case. So before we run around screaming that the police murdered a unborn baby perhaps we should see the proof that she was actually pregnant, did have a miscarriage, and it was caused by the incident and not something else.
Huh. "Obama." "Obama." "Clinton." "Obama." So you're saying the Democrats are the party of Big Business (and corruption)? You're making some pretty big presumptions there--not the least of which being that the Chancellor of UC Davis is a man (she isn't). Instead of us answering your what-ifs, how about you validate them. Maybe look into how many (if any) of the "protestors" were students. And university policy on protesting. Because it is pointless to hypothetically discuss authority and obligation for a hypothetical scenario. Might as well discuss how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. Or how Santa Claus manages to visit all the good boys and girls in just one night.
Fair enough. Lets just base it on that they've already paid to be there. As lessees, does the school have any cause to curtail what is arguably their "reasonable use"?
Just curious, Anc: Is "The Stranger" actually printed on yellow paper? Or is it just their journalism that is yellow? This is the thing that fascinates me about some people. Maybe it's just me, but if I were pregnant, I'd maybe think about not unnecessarily putting myself in a position where I could be pepper-sprayed. But I'm funny that way. Like after I had my eyes lasered. When they do LASIK, they first cut a layer of your cornea. After they do the reshaping, they lay it back and it heals back into place. But while it is healing you don't want to rub your eyes. Or do anything that involves trauma to your head. So during that timeframe, when I found myself in a bar, faced by a drunk belligerent who really needed his ass kicked, I remembered what could happen if he managed to land a lucky punch to my face and quietly walked away. People seem to understand that you shouldn't smoke or drink while pregnant. Is common sense such an uncommon value today that getting arrested by police doesn't seem like a bad idea for a pregnant woman? I mean, shit, after a certain point, they tell you not to do things like take long car rides or get on a plane. Going to a protest rally should probably set off some warning bells in her tiny, pea-like brain. But of course the "protestors" put her on the front lines. Because hell, if conservatives can use the death of unborn children to support their cause, it's only fair liberals can too. Of course conservatives raise awareness of killing unborn children in an effort to get people to stop killing unborn children. Liberals use it to try to get bigger, more intrusive government. Or whatever it is that Occupy is protesting for.
Absolutely. If I've paid tuition, does that mean that I can go to the library at 4am? Can I monkey about in the chemistry lab whenever I feel like it? Can I set up a business on the computer lab's servers? Expanding beyond college, I bought a nice car and I have a driver's license. I pay taxes--property, income, and gasoline--to drive on roads. Does that mean I can drive 105mph?
YES. You think just because you pay you've got the right to do whatever the fuck you want on campus? Of course you don't. You essentially sign a contract when you sign up to go to college and part of that contract states you'll follow whatever rules are in place.
At the core? Divorcing business from government. You don't want the government controlling business, Occupy wants business to lose it's grip on governance. The current relationship between the two structures is failing.
Forget that. Why the bullshit over getting the records? If she was actually pregnant this lady would have lines of lawyers ready to step in and help her. The information would already be out there. The longer she stalls with the "proof" the less likely she was actually pregnant. Just like they put that old lady out there. Leftists do this on purpose in order to try and gather sympathy for their cause.
Yeah, because everyone who is homeless drinks, smokes and does drugs. Painting with a rather large brush, aren't we?
That's why I said probably and there is a very high percentage of homeless who do drugs, smoke, and drink alcohol. Either all of them or a combination of the three.
Here you go Anc: http://uwmedicine.washington.edu/Patient-Care/Locations/Documents/UH1870.pdf Find her. Help her fill out the form, take her to the hospital, and then pay whatever costs are necessary to get those records. I bet she refuses to do it.
Why do you ask this question? How is that not mind-meltingly obvious? Are you unable to get beyond a partisan pissing contest?
Yes exactly. Thus when you push for laws to limit Corporate/Government corruption you are hurting the Democrats and helping the Republicans. And you'll help kick Obama back to Kenya. You should totally support them!
