I could barely get through the trailer. I only stayed watching the trailer cause my wife was curious about Ice Cube, but we both thought "Oh God, this is garbage."
I’m choosing to believe that this story is happening concurrently with the 2005 Tom Cruise version so I made it about 35 mins in before I shut it off but I’ll get back to it soon. So far I’m not that impressed. They gave Ice Cube a techno-babble speech in this and his attempt at coming off as plausible is hilarious. You could tell he was reading it off a page without understanding too much of it.
Indeed, as someone whose favorite classic science fiction story is War of the Worlds, and who sat through Tom Cruise's effort back in 2005 and didn't leave, I can honestly say that this version is a steaming pile of shit. It is a terrible piece of garbage. I'd rather watch Battlefield: Earth than this pile of slop again.
This wasn't on my radar at all, but every last thing I've heard about it says it is a huge pile of flaming dogshit. Which is a shame, because I kinda like Ice Cube in other things.
Watched this last night. Holy fucking hell it was awful. The drone looked like one of those $55 drones. While in the Tesla Model Y, she saw total destruction. Yet the view was a sunny, low traffic day. Oh no, all the infrastructure was taken out, still had cell service, Internet was up even after "the Internet was taken out". And that Mike(?) didn't get fired from Amazon, bullshit. That last bit was the most unrealistic part of all.
Movies Unlimited puts out a paper catalog with a 1-800 number for ordering. Wonder how big a paper Amazon would be. Probably have to be delivered in a crate.
Yeah, I haven't heard one good thing about this. Apparently it was filmed in 2020 during the pandemic all on green screen.
