She's got good taste! Lemon pepper and garlic are my favorite wing flavors. Aside from the fact that they just taste so good, they're also easier for me to eat without my glucose going crazy.
Great dinner out with the wife last night to one of our favorite spots. Had the ling cod and eggplant
Ok, this is going to sound weird. But some of the best wings I've found are from Little Caesars, but only one location. They are always juicy, slightly crispy and huge. Other locations not so much. But they are not spicy enough so I just add extra hot sauce. There's a brewery that I go to 3-4 times a month, we'll grab a pizza and wings when we go there. And I'm having their Four in One pizza for dinner. Didn't feel like cooking or anything today.
My soul needed some cheese enchiladas for lunch. Not only delicious and among the best in the city, but because I’m friends with the manager there’s a non-zero chance that my meal will be comped when I go there. Probably every third or fourth lunch.
Took my mom out for her birthday. I ordered the honey glazed salmon with sweet potato fries and a baked potato. We're at a place called Shell's Downtown, it's about an hour from where I live. The food is always amazing. Never had a bad experience or meal
Nope, didn't make the pickled onions. I didn't have an onion and couldn't get one. :/ I will do it next time, though.
Back to the good burger place that's more convenient than the great burger place. I've actually been back since the last photo, but I didn't make any photos then. Today I got to meet the wife from the new couple that owns the place. She made a point to come introduce herself. It turns out that the original owner had sold the place about a year ago and the next owner didn't do a great job with it (which I mentioned). The new owner and her husband are determined to get the quality back to what it used to be and so far they're succeeding. The original owner is Lebanese and the new owners are Indian, which is cool.
Just this morning I saw a mention of a new-ish Cuban bakery with authentic Cuban sandwiches so I gave it a try. Really good, but needed a few more pickles. I bought a sampling of pastries to take home.
There's a place back home (where I grew up in Florida) that has the best Cuban sandwiches. They roast the pork, make their own ham, get the cheese from a local cheese maker, make their own pickles and the bread is baked in Ybor City at La Segunda Central Bakery. The bakery has been there since 1915.
Working a special projects story about a guy in a neighboring town today and wrapped up around lunchtime so I went to the restaurant where I’ve done a couple of stories on the owner. I also met the subject of the new story there as well. Like most of the places I go I get the same thing nearly every time.
A few months ago a Korean hot pot chain opened a location not far from our house so my wife and I tried it out tonight. Really good, though next time I'm definitely doing the grilling thing instead of the soup thing because the latter fills you up so quickly. It's a hard place to make a photograph, too. There are tons of blue lights, which throws off the colors badly. I had to color correct the shit out of that image.
Went old school today. I hadn't made this in a long time because it's so easy but I'd been wanting some boneless pork ribs basted in Sweet Baby Ray's sauce for a while so I went for it. Stupid easy to cook but really tasty.
Sliced up the leftover pork ribs for sandwiches. Pickles are courtesy of my chef son-in-law. I don't know how he made them (beyond the obvious) but they're really good and they have a spicy kick.
Cooked a couple of cheap ribeyes. Pushed them a little past my preferred doneness (rare) but still good.
Bacon-wrapped chicken thighs with poblano pepper slices. I prefer to make these with chipotle peppers and baste them with the leftover adobo sauce from the can, but I wasn't sure if the dinner guests would go for something that spicy so I played it safe with a mild pepper. Chipotle peppers and sauce also make for much more colorful and photogenic pictures.
I need to get me a barbecue grill. Anyhoo, I made burgers and fries tonight. Our George Foreman grill's old and is no longer non-sticking, so I have to apply oil to it just to grill something on it. I'm going to have to replace it eventually.
Off this week and had to get out of the house for a bit while the woman who comes to clean every couple of weeks did her thing. Went to a different place about the same distance from my house but in the opposite direction. I'd gotten to-go orders from there before and eaten at one of their other locations so I knew it would be good, but unfortunately their red salsa isn't very good. Or at least not as good as a couple of other places where I go. Not only did I have to ask for it, but it tasted kind of like they didn't make it themselves like the other restaurants do.
The biggest freaking country fried steak I've ever had, at Chef Art's in Disney Springs. And it was delicious. I took half home with me, but my daughter ate it before I could, lol. She says she was doing me a favor for my diet
So my wife returns from an eight-day trip to South Korea and where do I take her for lunch her first full day back? A little Korean/Mexican grocery store that has some of the best tacos and Korean food in the city. I've been meaning to take her there for a long time and figured Saturday was as good a time as any.
Sriracha-honey chicken. Part of why my photos look so good. I’ve actually taken that little light into restaurants to make good photos of the food.
It didn't occur to me that you used a portable light like that. I thought you used a photo editor and a digital SLR.
