I've had people shoplift from my little shop. It has never enraged me, it just made me sad wondering why they felt that they had no other option but to steal a $3 toy from a toy store.
I've caught people in the act of shoplifting, and my response? For the little ones, I've ignored it and let them have it. They likely don't know any better and it's usually one of the 25 cent cars in the loose bin. For the adults, I've offered them a discount.

Not once have I wanted the national guard to show up and shoot anyone. How awful that would be to shoot someone over a thing.
