A NEW StarTrek (2009) poster has revealed itself and NOBODY starts a thread about this? Yeah yeah, I know, everyone is salivating over TheDarkKnight, and rightfully so - it was beyond fantastic - but come on guys, are we losing sight of StarTrek here?

Kirk is giving me a Shinzon vibe and his hair is noticeably not shown. Maybe they replaced young Kirk with Young Picard.

Also, I hope the guy in the upper left is Chakotay and not a Klingon.

For the life of me I can't understand why they're going back to the idea of a bald Romulan bad guy named after a Roman emperor. Didn't they sufficiently play that concept out with Shinzon?

I will reserve judgement on whether the movie sucks or not until I see it.

However, I will make this prediction with confidence:

It will be a box office dud.

The Trek fan base is far too fractured and full of nitpicky geeks to make anything successful anymore.

A new look for the Romulans?

He looks like a normal Romulan with a tattoo on his face, to me.

I can't tell. He doesn't seem to have pointed ears.

Heh - well, no, I guess not. But this does seem like a repeat in some ways.

If you look close, his ear point was apparently ripped off and he has a scar.

Could explain how we get around the "canon" issue of no human having seen a Romulan prior to Balance of Terror: perhaps at no point in the movie do the protagonists ever find out that what they are dealing with is, in fact, a Romulan.

I'm fairly pessimistic about it myself.
