http://www.oregonlive.com/oregon-standoff/2016/03/oregon_standoff_fbi_agents_und.html Should liberals give a shit and why?
He was armed and kept reaching for his gun in front of law enforcement. I'm trying hard to see how this was murder by any legal definition of the word.
Yeah, why should anyone care that a man was shot in the back? After all, we didn't like his politics, so clearly he deserved to die anyway.
Was he shot in the back? Since he was spinning around while reaching for his pistol it's possible he was. I don't think politics has as much to do with the collect yawn as the fact that he: a) Made repeated statements he wouldn't be taken alive both in the days leading up to the incident and during the time in question b) Attempted vehicular homicide on a police officer at the road block c) Jumped out of the vehicle, refusing to listen to police instructions d) Flailed about WHILE REACHING FOR HIS PISTOL. I think D really seals the deal, but the other points are important.
Autopsy says yes. Yeah, keep making excuses for the coward that shot him. No, it's pretty obviously partisan politics. I wonder how many of you looking so callously at this feel about others on this board basically cheering whenever some robber or home invader gets gunned down?
He reached, he died. Doesn't matter where they shot him or with what. First rule of lethal force: Don't fight fair if you can possibly avoid it. Second rule: If you're in a quick draw contest with a gun nut but your gun is already out and leveled at him, use your index finger like God intended until the slide locks back.
Link? As I said with him spinning around while trying to pull his 9mm out of his jacket pocket, I can see how it'd happen, but I haven't seen the autopsy. What kind of stupid are you? Go watch the video posted above. Watch it a couple times. Pay special attention to how he: a) Made repeated statements he wouldn't be taken alive both in the days leading up to the incident and during the time in question b) Attempted vehicular homicide on a police officer at the road block c) Jumped out of the vehicle, refusing to listen to police instructions d) Flailed about WHILE REACHING FOR HIS PISTOL. I think D really seals the deal, but the other points are important. And shows why politics hasn't as much to do with the collect yawn as the fact that he was a dumbass looking to die and take out some cops with him.
They did everything they could not to shoot those dipshits. Some people just have a personal need to be shot and that overwhelmed all the cop coddling of these people.
Nothing wrong with shooting him in the back. This idiot while reaching for his gun, was facing a law enforcement officer who was holding a taser. The officers behind this idiot fired at this idiot to protect that officer. Totally justified. Especially given his whole, "you'll never take me alive" bullshit. And he was shot by Oregon State Troopers. Not the FBI.
I didn't know about the taser. Given his attitude, which he shared freely with the officers in a way that is hard to miss, he was thinking he would trump the taser with a big ass gun and assert his dominance. So they dropped him like a sack of potatoes. I'm sure he died a hero in his own head, or as they probably say "They shot that dude like an unarmed black man!"
The OP is also conveniently ignoring the part where he tried to run the road block and almost kills a LEO. These morons spend weeks running around armed to the teeth and saying they're willing to die for their cause, thinking they're above the law. What exactly was the outcome they expected, especially after a high speed chase? He even had the chance to surrender peacefully. Idiot.
Take away from the Oregonian article: OSP did things as we currently know and as Anc summarized, but the Feds did some shenanigans and covered it up. In short: Finicum chose suicide by cop, OSP wanted to Tase but Rugerred instead. Feds... Hmmm. Interesting
Why should it matter if he was shot in the back? He was reaching for his gun and there was a LEO in front of him. That was as good a shoot as it gets.
This is such a non-issue, and the red flag should be that a dumbass nascent serial killer like @Captain X is defending this piece of shit.
You do know, there was a state trooper in front of him, who was at risk when Finicum reach for his gun, right? The article is kind of a mess, but what I'm getting from it is that he was not even killed by FBI agents, let alone murdered. Regardless of who fired, it was a clean shoot.
And he did it after running a road block, trying to run over an officer, and declaring he would go down in a blaze of glory. It was a good kill.
