    The error of the subsequent movies is that the studio/producers seemed to think it was all about Riddick. It wasn't. Pitch Black was about the monsters with Riddick as one of the interesting central characters.

    A good way of putting it is that they didn't make Ripley movies after the first Alien. They made Alien films that happened to star Ripley.
