This month, our publicly funded Canadian station CBC is discussing which do Canadians feel should be considered the "Seven Wonders of Canada". Below is a link to the nominations so far. If you like to see parts of Canada that are really beautiful, but can't be assed to go because of your now weak US dollar. ( ) Then you should take a look at some of those. http://www.cbc.ca/sevenwonders/nominees.html Anyways, it got me wondering, what would you guys think would be the 7 Wonders of America? I can think of a few off the top of my head: 1. Statue of Liberty 2. The White House 3. The Petagon 4. Mt. Rushmore 5. Golden Gate Bridge 6. The Alamo 7. Yellowstone National Park 8. Mall of America 9. Disney World 10. Graceland 11. The Grand Canyon 12. Niagra Falls 13. The Gateway Arch 14. Space Needle 15. Cliff Dwellings at Mesa Verde If there is enough interest, maybe someone can start a poll.
Your list was pretty good, I'd only change a couple... My top 7: The Grand Canyon Mount Rushmore The Empire State Building Hoover Dam The Golden Gate Bridge The Statue of Liberty Yellowstone National Park If I could round out the top 10... The Alamo Independence Hall The Gateway Arch
My 7 would be: Independence Hall - for it's importance to the country The White House - home to the most powerful man in the world Golden Gate Bridge - because it's an engineering marvel Grand Canyon - because it's a natural wonder of the WORLD. Niagra Falls - for it's sheer power and beauty Yellowstone National Park - because this will be what will end America as we know it. Disney World - because it's hard to believe man is capable of building something so large and immersive.

I'll do natural wonders Grand Canyon Niagara Falls Mississippi River Mt. Ranier Half Dome Alaska (the whole damn state!) Everglades Ehrie's penis
Meh, who says they can't claim it too? I said Mississippi River, should that be restricted just to the country with the head waters, or just to the country with the delta? (Yeah, US > CS, IMO!). Now this can be red room worthy!
On to engineering wonders: Golden Gate bridge California Aqueduct L.A. freeway system Skyscrapers The Big Dig Transcontinental rail road Mrs. storm's tits
It was hoover dam or Mrs. storm's tits. I chose tits. As for the bridges, the GG is far more impressive engineering due to the length of the span. Until very recently, it was the longest single span suspension bridge in the world. And considering when it was built, the depth of the bay where it empties into the Pacific, and the height of the bluffs from which the bridge launches, the brooklyn bridge really doesn't stand up to the test.
The GG was overtaken in 1964 The construction of the brooklyn bridge is more amazing imHo that the golden gate. The sinking of pressurised caissons into the river where the workers worked under extreme air pressure was something not done to that extent before or since. There was a series on world engineering feats here a few years ago, the three in america where the railroad, the hoover and the brooklyn bridge. I gotta agree with that
Grand Canyon, white sands, new mexico, Niagara falls, Disney world, The interstate highway system, The great smoky mountains.
Have you ever been there? Its not all that commercial and soulless at all. Its an absolute blast if you can let yourself go and be like a kid again. I know some people can't do that and are all uptight snd nitpicky and it is a shame. I would go there at least once a year if the wife was willing. I love the place.
Hoover Dam Interstate Highway system Statue of Liberty (thanks France!) Silicon Valley Constitution Hall The Smithsonian NORAD Grand Canyon Mount Ranier Redwood National Park Yellowstone National Park The Great Lakes The Mississippi River Luray Caverns (homer vote!)
