Already started this thread, in Bus Driver Hijinx earlier today, but you have a poll. I'm torn between putting the hood rat in her place and going overboard. I'm betting Miss Smarty-pants had this coming for a long, long time. I di like when the driver said "she wanted to act like a man!" No I know why bus drivers/subway workers are quite often very ghetto - they have to be to handle their passengers. Don't believe me? Ride buses in, or to and from "diverse" cities and you'll know what I mean.
Bus driver punches a black woman? It's cool! He's a hero! Bus driver says something rude to a tween Romney supporter? She's a monster! Yeah, no bias here.
Chris Rock was right. There are regular white folks and then there is poor white trash while there are regular black folks and then there are the niggers. That loud mouthed ghetto hood rat was nothing but a worthless nigger. She talked trash, hit a guy, and then started crying when he defended himself. She should be in jail for assault, disorderly conduct, public endangerment (hitting the bus driver while the bus was moving), and anything else they can think up. This is why so many Americans refuse to support public transit, they're afraid of getting on a bus/train and being next to someone like that.
I'd say the only bias is yours. For one, to most people, the race of the woman does matter. But really, the biggest difference would be how the woman hit the driver, and all the kid did was live at a house that had a Romney sign in front of it. If you want hypocrisy, just look at how the Democratic party changed its tune on civil rights between 2008 and 2012, or how the two parties switched stances entirely on on filibustering when Obama became president and the Democrats controlled the legislature. Or how people who were anti-war under Bush were silent when Obama attacked Libya and even went so far as to violate the War Powers Act. You're honestly going to try to say these two incidents with bus drivers are totally alike?
There's a bunch of BS in your statement since you seem to think every situation with a touch of macro similarity is the same situation, calling for the same response. I'll just touch on the war bit. I have both supported and opposed military action. Circumstance matter and our response shouldn't be bound by how we treated a different circumstance. Libya was an opportunity to improve our standing in the country with a low risk nudge. Iraq, on the other hand, was a guaranteed quagmire for the sake of a personal grudge, destined to weaken our hand in the region. Two very different circumstances, yet some simple minded buffoons think if I opposed one, I'm required to oppose the other.
Nobody in this situation was made out to be a monster because everyone is an adult on this bus (in theory anyway) and sadly there's little public outrage or shock - just laughing and pointing. Why is this? Because (like it or not) this falls under the "you know how they/we are" theory of behavior. American society accepts the fact that blacks don't have the same level of self control as do whites. Society believes they are short-tempered and more likely to escalate confrontations into physical violence. Basically they get a"pass" in situations like this. But hear me out..it's not just racial. If it was a bus full of hillbillies the result would be the same - people expect hillbillies to act the same way. So I guess it's a culture thing more than anything. "Disenfranchized" groups have less to lose. There's no social stigma for getting thrown in jail. It's not like they are professionals with a career or reputation to protect or strict behavioral expectations. Is this a cop-out that only encourages society to lower the bar on behavior, or being sensitive to their cultural differences? Either way it totally fucks the good people that only want to ride the bus and not engage in daily drama, but have to deal with it anyway.
One thing to keep in mind -- this is only a story because it's rare. It's no more likely than car jacking, but because either event connects to our every day lives and could theoretically happen to us, it's tabloid gold. And tabloid style journalism is pretty much all we've got these days.

The war powers act is probably unconstitutional. I don't give a fuck about the War Powers Act, and neither did most conservatives until they decided it was useful for criticising the Kenyan socialist. The lens I use for military action is a very simple question -- does it advance U.S. Interests at a reasonable cost? If Congress and the President want to dick around about the politics, that's their prerogative. But you need to shut the fuck up when it comes to telling me what I think. It's an annoying little habit to define somebody else's view so that you can then claim a "win" on some point when the other person has never said what you claim. It's small and pathetic. Get over your pre-conceived notions and learn to actually understand other people.

How the fuck did this turn into another thread about Obama? Chill out. Anyway, the bus driver was acting in self-defense. However, it was over the line to punch her like that. As soon as she hit him and spat on him, he should have thrown her off the bus. Also, I disagree with the notion men should never hit women. As with all violence, it should only ever be self-defensive and non-lethal. Furthermore, it's an outdated and sexist attitude.
