Speaking of Eisenhower, this is from the official Republican Party platform of 1956:

If I wanted to read writing by an educated adult I would not have bought "Probe".....
No. I just read a lot of things written by the people that are.

Since World War II ended 70 years ago I'd say this move was long overdue.

The U.S. military was gutted in the aftermath of World War II. But when the Korean War broke out the U.S. decided to continue having a larger than normal peacetime military for obvious reasons.

By the way, the current U.S. military is about 40% smaller than at the end of the Cold War so anyone suggesting that the U.S. has never cut back simply is not telling the truth.

I never said you claimed to be, but you act like you are.

Arrogant and condescending when you have no basis to be either. Dismissive of those with far more knowledge and, especially, first-hand experience than you'll ever have.

    You're...at best...a hobbyist, nothing more.

I was not aware that arrogance and dismissivness had to have a basis.

A hobbyist now. Perhaps. I hope to one day be an author and historian.

I dream of a 1968 canadian service unification act type for us to use. I hate large defensive armies like the modern german army. I prefer more defence forces with force projection Like the Australians, Brits, French and a little bit of the Turks. The marines and navy seals do better force projection then the army.

The problem with the military is they are always prepared to fight the last war. They scale back the military with fighting a war like that in mind and this is a proven mistake. In the 80s were had all kinds of new tech and could have seriously kicked ass in another Vietnam, but the next wars were different.

Well one noted military author did send me an email encouraging me when he came upon my idea for a new way of teaching Cold War history.

No. My concept was to break it up into phases and theaters and teach it more as though it were a continually active military conflict rather than an intermident at most.

That's how it's taught in classes that the subject is surprisingly... The Cold War.

It would probably beat my history idea - a WWII mockumentary with an all kitten cast.

It sounds you might also be interested in the Battley Women's Town Guild rendition of Battle of Pearl Harbor. And I hear they also do a mean Trafalgar.

I thought about it, but who could fill R.Lee Erney's shoes in that opening scene? Few kittens have the gravitas to spit out lines like "you are not even fucking human beings!" and make you feel it.
