But seriously folks. We should do a welfare check on John Castle. I've left his attorney, Mr. Firemark, a message.
The short answer is the board got hacked and malicious code inserted somewhere in the myriad files during the server transfer. Mentalist has been going through each file to find and manually eliminate the code and is looking at migrating away from vBulletine. I've invited him over so he can talk to @Coloratura about XenForo but don't know if he's going to do so. Meanwhile, Eggs Mayo is hosting a refuge board for TK, rEFCL and Lonaf (which is officially closed, it looks like).
Tch, damn, I always wanted them destroyed, but not like that. I wanted the Earth to open up under their feet, and they just fall, and fall, and fall, and fall, and scream, and scream, and scream, and scream, and they never hit a bottom, and they just keep going, and going, and you pull back, and they're in a spatial loop that makes them keep falling in a Mobius strip that feels perfectly linear inside the warp, then pull back further, and that's inside a time warp that makes it last for a trillion years, then pull back further, and I'm working the machine, and wacking off with my tongue hanging out. Y'know, something really simple and basic, and not at all destructive.
I still follow John Castle on Twitter. It's mostly just automated tweets about how many followers he's lost.
Every once in a while there is a tweet begging people to buy his porn lit. Usually it's framed around the idea that serious authors like him and Anne Rice have occasionally done what they had to do.
Oh, yeah. Totally counts. Wordforge: Broke off due to TNZ crackdown. Terran: Broke off due to posts in MISC not counting towards post count (rank used to be serious business back in the day). They felt disrespected so made own board. EFCL (Eternal Fleet Captains Lounge): Formed by a group of close Fleet Captains so that when members graduated to Rear Admiral they would have a place to all hang out together. Trollkingdom: Formed by those either banned from TBBS or those sympathetic. Early on a big draw was Executors data dumps from TBBS mod forum. Actually pretty instrumental in formation of WF, both as early refugee for those banned from TNZ before the full exodus and as catalyst for Exodus. Tensions had been building for a while and the Barcode data dump posted on TK of Lisa, @T'Bonz and other admin's utter contempt for 'TNZers' was the final straw. What's the story of LoNAF? Is it a direct descendant of TBBS or a grandchild? It might be worth reaching out to the remnants of these other boards and seeing if they would be interested in joining WF considering our shared history and interests (sci-fi, message boards).
We tried that with LoNAF, but they preferred to die alone. Don't forget our own Starscape Lounge, which I believe also had some TrekBBS DNA.
If boards are going down than people are looming for neq homes and WF should be reminding them that we still exist and that they are welcome here.
Lonaf was affiliated with or part of the RP group from EFCL and decided to split off. Then at the end of 03 the board was the refuge for a group from another board (Warhammer 40k I think). A forced integration of the refuge board into the rest of Lonaf saw the refugees slowly drift away. Personality conflicts with one of the founding members drove off most of the others, so the remaining members drifted to TK's MineField and/or rEFCL (which itself is longer accessible pending software bugs and is using the afirementioned TK/rEFCL/LoNAF refuge board). Lonaf hosts several children boards (mine's still up apparently).
Aye, but that was a good couple of years ago. Given recent events, it might be worth asking all three if they'd like refugee lounges.
I haven't been able to get to TK much, since it's blocked from my work (government) computer and there is no net service where I live now. I'm so deprived! mm
Whenever I make the mistake of looking at Troll Kingdom, I feel deprived of the 5 minutes I might have spent washing my cat.
