I won't lie, as much as I love burritos, I did wish the food scene in San Diego was more varied than Mexican and Hipster Vegan Organic. :borg:

I honestly miss the Indian curry places that were all over Yokosuka. :(

    In Japan? Really?

New York has some great Indian food, love some goat curry, but you just can't beat the places in London.

There were at least at least four places in walking distance to the base that I can recall.

Japanese curry, apart from the Cocos Ichibanya chain, was often too bland for my tastes. Which makes sense, cuz it's a bland knock-off of British curry, which in itself is watered down from the fragrant curries of India.

I much prefer sweet potato pie but my wife and one of my boys are huge pumpkin fans, so it always gets the nod at Thanksgiving. Thing is, we make so many pies, it would be hard to argue for one more. We always do pumpkin, mince, chocolate bourbon pecan, and apple.

I hate sweet potatoes and yams (are they the same thing?). Regardless, I'm not a fan. I will eat pumpkin pie but only with Kool-Whip on top, or else it tastes bitter.

Close. The species adapts, because individuals either succeed to reproduce or die. Adaptation at the individual level doesn't get passed on.

The problem with thinking about meaningful human evolution is that the population is so large that any beneficial mutations aren't likely to cause drift in any one direction. A small island population might have a chance, but only over tens to hundreds of thousands of years.

Sweet potatoes are a bit more stringy and grainy to me.

Oddly, the purple sweet potatoes from Japan taste nothing like that and are even one of the more popular ice cream flavours along with green tea.

Meh, people aren't going to turn down free shit regardless of what Trump days.

However, this will have the benefit of Trump knowing who is a dirty Arab to be slated for lynching.

If you're ever in Connecticut you need to pick up pies at Lyman Orchards. Best pies...ever. I believe they ship them too.

I had never had sweet potato pie, until I married my wife. Or, menthol smokes.

They have sweet potatoes & menthol cigarettes in England? I did not know that! Then again I don't eat sweet potatoes or smoke so they aren't on my radar. As for your wife....British accents
    German accents :brood:

There's just as much reason to get upset with the fact that Latinos are categorized as 'White' (for statistics concerning crime.) For ~40 years the United States government has been specifically pandering to people who aren't White, but it didn't originate with the Obama regime.

okay - I misunderstood. I thought he said he had never encountered sweet potatoes & menthol cigs until he met his British wife, which didn't make sense to me. So she's from Seattle. Okay now I'm completely confused, so forget it. I'm always slow on the uptake, it's cool.

Sweet potato and pumpkin pies both taste almost identical to me.

I make a sweet potato dessert casserole where you don't mash the potatoes, but grate them. Combine with sugar and eggs and cook until the sweet potatoes are tender. It's not mushy like sweet potato or pumpkin pie and tastes even better.

Since pie pumkins are fairly cheap around here, I think I might try making a pie from scratch this year  I remember my family once tried making pumpkin ice cream once and we used the Jack-o-lantern pumpkins that are mostly hollow and what flesh is in there has more water than gturner's bedroom will have when Hilary wins and he drowns himself and his roommate in salty tears. :borg:

So, not a success. But this time, I know to bake the pie pumpkin. ;)
