I respect your taste in films, but this is at odds with what "Everyone Else" is saying. Up til now I've heard that Aquaman was pretty good.
Today just happens to be the three year anniversary of Zack Snyder stepping down from JL. https://www.comicbookmovie.com/just...ping-down-as-justice-leagues-director-a175564
Now the "releasetheAyercut", fans for Suicide Squad are coming out of the woodwork again, but what's really interesting, is Ayer is breaking his silence. Before, he played ball, and said he was fine with WB's cut, but now he's saying El Diablo killing his family is the only compromise WB gave him, and that they did an "Edward Scissorhands job", of cutting it. We should get all the directors's cuts. In the VHS/DVD days we just got them. Now, for some reason, and it's very recent too, we have to beg like dogs for them.
Granted, the Snyder cut is a special case, cuz it needs money to be finished, but the Ayer cut already exists. Why are we having to beg for that one?
WarnerMedia chairman says of the cost "I wish it was only 30 million". https://www.comicbookmovie.com/just...e-costs-i-wish-it-was-just-30-million-a175623
With Follywood accounting, who knows what the actual cost is. It would be really interesting to see what Snyder's contract said. I have to wonder if there wasn't something about him getting a cut of the film's revenue and they're not fiddling with the numbers to screw him out of that.
I never watched the Joss Whedon cut. Considering the disappointment in Bats vs. Supes, I don't have high hopes it will be any good.
Not always. I still have the special edition of The Abyss on DVD and at the time it was get it while you can situation. Same with the unspecialized Star Wars DVD which I had and sold at a yard sale. The Abyss I still have. Oh and remember what it took to get the Donner cut of Superman 2 released?
If, by "solid", you mean "it's not explosive diarrhea, but it's a pretty solid turd," you'd be correct.
They're using it!! https://www.comicbookmovie.com/just...ore-and-work-by-hans-zimmer-a176598#gs.9ld78q
Eh, in-franchise continuity is overrated anyway. It's why Star Trek has become such an utter shit show with fans. So long as it's not totally egregious, I'm willing to overlook continuity and canon "gaps" in the name of a decent and entertaining story. (I realize I just made a whole subset of fandom's heads explode.)
I think one of the best ways to get over the canon and continuity thing is to just assume that all of the movies and TV shows and whatnot are "semi-historical productions" made 100 years or more after the events they portray, so they're likely to get things wrong or miss details. This happens in real life. Just watch any given bunch of movies about WWII and Vietnam to see what they get wrong, and there are still people alive who lived through that stuff!
They are using the Snyder cut to kick off HBO Max, which is leaning heavily into the Warner superhero properties. Personally I've enjoyed a lot of the DC movies in recent years. I'm all for it. About the only one I didn't enjoy at least somewhat was Birds of Prey. That was just dreck. But with WW1984, Black Adam, THE Suicide Squad with Cena as Peacemaker as a spin off series, another Shazam, the Flash, and the Batman coming out in the next two years of so then onto HBO Max, they've got a lot of potential.
Jared Leto's Joker is going to be in the Snyder Cut reshoots. Everyone's favorite Joker!!! Snyder loves you!!! https://www.cbr.com/jared-leto-joker-zack-snyder-justice-league/
