Phlox was no where near the center of the problem with Enterprise. To this day, it’s the only Trek series that I never finished.
Oh, God. Jeffrey Fucking Combs. He was great in Re-Animator. But the Trekkie worship of him is pretty pathetic.
Make it a clip episode with Tennant controlling the flow, really distill the fun, maybe play with some tropes, example: Like a 'Mork calling Orson', start off with just Tennant reporting to someone, blank canvas background. "Well, at first they thought I was a rogue Starfleet captain" - scenes of then stopping him "Then they thought I was an alien who'd infiltrated Starfleet, and pretended to go rogue to get home with information" - more interaction scenes "Then they though I was a Section 31 agent pretending to be the alien who'd infiltrated, in order to pretend to go rouge and counter-infiltrate them!" - more scenes "You'll love this, then they detected chronotons, and started wondering if I was an enemy time traveller from some time war pretending to be Section 31 pretending to be, well you know" - more scenes "Finally, they decided I was the home team time traveller and let me go" - more scenes "Exhausting. Imagine if they'd found out the truth?" - credits
I have always wanted to see what led to the fall of Garth of Izar. So my vote would be for a younger pre-insane Garth.
Hey, howcome for "Under The Cloak Of War" no one did... (Sings) cuz pattern buffer's painless...it brings on many changes...and IIII can taaake or leave it if IIII pleeeaase! Huh? Why dincha think of that?
I've suggested the fall of Garth as a story I'd love to see since before the premiere. Unkown why my brain didn't make that connection this time.
Now that I think of it, a Gary Seven type of character might be a potential set-up too. You could almost let him play the Doctor without technically being the Doctor with such a character.
Indeed, John Billingsley somehow managed to keep Phlox from becoming a Neelix clone despite having an episode that involves him chasing a bat around Sickbay and saving the Captain's stupid dog. ENT had 99 problems but Phlox ain't one
I've said before, I'd watch ANIS 10 times in a loop rather than 5 fucking minutes of "The Real Housewives Of...". The worst of Trek is still better than most normal-ass TV.
Hey, speaking of ANIS, has anyone sat down and calculated how many grandsons of Porthos out the beagle Scotty lost in the transporter was?
I'd figure at least 10-12 generations if it's the same lineage. although I'd also suspect that purebreds have gone the way of the dodo by then.
Can we please not pollute this thread with discussion of ENT? It's supposed to be about SNW, which is actually a well-written, well-acted and well-produced Trek series.
And it's plausible that he'd still be alive. Looks like he was about 60 in Enterprise, so he'd be about 175 in SNW. I don't think they were ever super exact about Denobulan lifespans, but what they did establish was consistent with a species that could live a few hundred years.
I tend to doubt that they gave enough background about Denoublans to say what their lifespans are. We know Vulcans can easily be 200 years old, and we know that Dr. McCoy made it from TOS to TNG, which would put him at 100+ for a human. So it could be that Denoublans naturally live 4000 years. Anyway, no particular desire to see Phlox in general or in general more in hat-tips to Enterprise in SNW. The fanboying for Archer in "Those Old Scientists" was enough. That said, if there HAD to be tie-ins to Enterprise with SNW, a few thoughts: -I would like to see the return of Shran because more Jeff Combs is a good thing. -If they could attempt to resolve the TCW, I wouldn't be opposed.
Section 31 has started filming and a certain number of new actors have been hired, leading to the misleading Variety headline "Seven added to cast." Those fuckers at Variety know what exactly what they're doing. https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/paramount-plus-star-trek-section-31-movie-michelle-yeoh-1235891617/
I kinda want to see this with Wesley and Kore. tie in the time travel wand thingee from SNW, make sure at least one legacy series crossover per season, let them hop through time and space fixing history...
