2024 General Election Thread

To be fair, it will be a very close shave, uh, election.

Today we had an election coverage rehearsal and they took great pains to ensure that the graphics no only showed no photograph of candidates and the vote totals for each was zero just to be safe (even though the rehearsal wasn't transmitted outside the building in any form).

Remember when Nixon's own tapes sealed his fate? Similar happened with Trump only he was stupid enough to pull this crap on recorded lines. It's as open and shut of a case and you can get. For that shit alone he should die in a federal prison.

It’s not illegal or disqualifying to lie or question the election results. Trump exhausted every legal avenue and stepped down when the time came. You may not like how it played out, but it’s true. I’d also argue that it’s no different than what the Democrats have done since 2000.

I am not yet convinced of this.

Really? Let me refresh your memory ...

Al Gore questioned the results in ONE state, as opposed to many, due to voting irregularities and how the state counts votes. It went to SCOTUS, they made their ruling and Gore accepted it. When it came time to certify the results in his duty as VP, he did so with no resistance even gaveling off members of his own party who brought up objections. He didn't make any calls to the Governor or the person in charge of Florida's elections to "find him 600 votes." He didn't push lies about poll workers and try to spin a bunch of lies. He certainly didn't tell his supporters to "stop the steal" which was basically inciting a riot. Once the SCOTUS makes its ruling, that is it. It's game over. Fighting beyond that makes you nothing more than a sore loser.

PS The part no one ever talks about, Bush won by a slim margin in New Hampshire yet there was no fighting over that state as they had no voting issues. Thankfully, due to this national embarrassment, Florida no longer has these issues either. We no longer poke holes in ballots, we bubble in on a scantron, it goes through a machine that records it right then and there and there is still a paperballot handy in case of a recount. Results are known within hours of the polls closing on election night while states that have populations a mere fraction of Floridas take far longer.

I still laugh at the thought of Pat Buchanan being offended because people thought the only way that many people wound vote for him was due to an error.

If she's being honest and aboveboard about her methodology, the potential payoff for demonstrating cheating or at least unreliability of the system would far outweigh the odds that her single vote decides any state or federal election.

I support more Trumpers doing this experiment. So they can have a proper sample size.

Reports coming that turnout in Philadelphia are already equal to 2020 total votes and it's only noon!

Only fair since their election was on July 4th. The stuff from the UK pundits on Youtube range from insightful to clueless. James O'Brien on LBC is totally bewildered and I think is very representative of how our cousins feel about what's going on.
