Simple - they’re the people that were turned off by the commies, the designer gender brigade, the people trying to take parent’s rights away and the keffiyeh wearing terrorist interns

America has walked away from the far left

I have no issue calling out the excesses of liberal academia latte-sipping America. What never gets talked about and gets swept under the rug is that rural Trump America is an effing disaster. Going beyond the fentanyl abuse, you have a total disdain for higher education and an inability to motivate young people to do anything worthwhile.

While I'd quibble with you over "parent's rights" (such a loaded term), I pretty much agree.
Many of the left need to better understand the hierarchy of needs.

America's owners have embraced fascism because it preserves the status quo and white power. Most Americans are in favor of universal healthcare. Most Americans are in favor of protecting abortion rights.
If you're blaming "the left" then you're blaming people who have little power, which is convenient and requires no thought, because the people blaming the left are right wingers who are tired of having their lives shaken up because people can't eat or are being oppressed for existing.

Be careful who you side with when it comes to pointing out how "the left" is why you're in misery, and not because of the people crushing you from the top down.
It's not immigrants, it's not trans people, it's not black folks, it's rich, white, privileged assholes who expect you're too stupid to know from where the exploitation is coming.

    You misunderstand me.
As I taught my rhetoric class, you can't make an appeal without empathy. And empathy requires understanding the hopes, fears, and concerns of your audience.
I think the Republicans have understood that better than the Democrats this election.

The Republicans don't understand, they don't have empathy, they use manipulation through fear.
I'm not a Democrat, and the Democrats absolutely dropped the ball this election, but Republicans do not have empathy, they have a love of the rule of law, and they use that dog whistle for white supremacy to get other white people in line. If this works on poor people as well (and they do intersect quite often with other demographics like Latino populations), all the better.

If the basis of your political belief is that there are people to be exploited in order to enrich a handful of others at the top, you are not working from empathy. The GOP wouldn't understand empathy if it grabbed them by the pussy.

The fact is that poor people are just tired of being ignored, and when that happens, they choose the Strong Man, the Music Man who will promise them great things if only they will hand over their lives for just a little while.

    It's a very old story.

I’ll tell you what requires no thought, falsely claiming that the left has little to no power
All this hyperbolic nonsense is exactly what America just rejected. It no longer has any juice and it’s not going to be the basis for a new America, a new resistance, or whatever. People - not just white straight people - have moved on from this

I think there is a very stark difference between empathy and populism, though. Still, Republicans understand how to appeal to people's feelings, even if they don’t understand them or even disdain them. Democrats usually try to appeal to people's intellect and sense of reason, which has always been and probably always will be a losing strategy. As the kids say, it’s all about vibes.

Reason will fill the mind with grand ideas, but if your stomach's empty it's all for nothing and dead on arrival. That's why left wing organizations feed people, and why right wing organizations condemn them for needing food.

The frustration for me is that no matter how many times these people are lied to, they keep coming back again and again. If there is any glimmer of optimism for me, it's that now with what is essentially a GOP mandate in our branches of government, the bullshit that happens will lay squarely on the Republicans and they might open their eyes to how they're being abused.

The realist in me says they will see Republicans fuck them over and then blame socialism.

Getting people out of the mindset that they have to crush whole groups of people just so their kids can eat is difficult. It shouldn't be, but it is, just as it took far too long to convince people that their god wasn't angry with them and killing their crops because they let Steve the gay guy live and didn't just stone him to death.

Lie some more, 00's teenage troll.
The policy positions of Biden and Harris work.
The only reason people reject them is fear of demonized others, and strawman versions of "soshulizzum".

    Strawmen like this...

The attitude is no different from when black folks were being recognized in the civil rights marches of the 1960s. There were holdouts upset at the idea of black people "hijacking" their party and wanted a return to the negative peace they had before rather than genuinely investigating the systemic inequalities that was making life miserable for millions of people everywhere.

You expect anyone to believe you care about platforms?
All he needed to earn your vote was some not-so-veiled misogyny and prejudice.
